Consoles always match mid range PCs at the start of a new cycle. A downclocked 3700X and 2080 level GPU performance will be decidedly mid-range once Ryzen 4000, nvidia 3000 and RDNA 2 all hit later in the year. When they're released the 2080 will be 2 years old, if it didn't match it for only $500 it would actually be a failure in the context of past console cycles and given that they're not paying even 1/4 of what we pay as consumers for these parts. This is actually wholly as should be expected, aside from finally moving to SSDs. Let's hope it brings a price correction to the desktop market, where GPUs are just super inflated and stagnant making the console seem more impressive than it really is. We're about to see real generational leaps from both AMD and Nvidia on the GPU side and I think thats going to completely shift the perspective and story on these new consoles. 360mm2 total die space on the new Xbox for everything. The GPU is probably only 250mm2 or less, and I'm willing to bet it ultimately stacks up as the 5600XT successor within the RDNA 2 desktop rollout.

Unless you need a new PC in the very immediate future. wait.
These consoles are the new benchmark.
This means whatever they are running or capable of running now in 9-18 months will be high end of mid spec.
-How can you say this! -
Theres a history of this with other consoles, a pattern of this if you will.
The concole tech will roll out to the PC line, at least for gamers, as the games needed to run them require console spec and PC hardware will also be required for game ports.
In turn this will make these consoles sort of mid Tier, as in PC terms and in that time frame forward + 9 months form their consoles launch which is what people are comparing these consoles against current hardware - even tho not released for sometime. sure they sound great. at this time.
So while its ohh ahh amaze right now, the hardware will be higher end of mid Tier in a 18 months.
What ever you decide, dont be blown away by specs comparing it to a 3700X with a 2080.
Those in 18 months as a comparison to say pc tech time line - not so shiny.

XBOX Series X looks like a POWER BRICK! LMAO. Tower of Power hahaaaaa
As for the EXDENDABLE STORAGE, that is to increase the size of fast storage since the system only comes with 1. If the expandable drive adds 1TB more or maybe 2TB more while keeping fast game loading thats a win. I only have 2TB NVME on my PC. Hopefully the prices arent ridiculous and Im certain thats what people are worried about. Im assuming games will have to be on INTERNAL STORAGE or EXPANDED STORAGE to be playable, while USB storage will be purely for storage. I dont see anything wrong with that. It will definitely be good to have a USB storage device to store games you dont play for the moment so you dont have to redownload it later. Gotta keep a eye on that data usage with these big new games.
Is gaming getting too expensive for some gamers? GAME STREAMING will be a option for that.

most laptop users don't game past apps like candy crush that's the truth and why thunder 3 and graphic docks won't be a huge thing. maybe 10 to 20 percent might but even that is a very might. most laptop users have a games console. I'm a desktop user but replacing mnmedia onto a Nvidia shield next month because Plex has nonapp innstore and Kodi her still doesn't have official her app out but it's on Android. so what's left on Windows. for me live tiles but even that isn't utalsednwell by Microsoft and looks to be going. I love alot of windows 10 but edge has never let me open new tabs to my default choice or home page. add that to my other issues I do see my 21 years of Microsoft and windows live coming to amend, I don't want it too but it's not like immgiven much choice.

I got it that you are PC master race guys but the ammount of wrong info about current gen consoles was ridiculous. If you mention/cover consoles then be accurate or dont bother at all. 1st of all PS4 was not only 5% faster than Xbox One. Its GPU was almost 50% faster. It forced Microsoft to remove Kinect to gain 5-10 % back on GPU power. 2nd problem was memory. GDDr5 in PS4 vs DDr3 in Xbox One reulted in much higher memory bandwidth. Last but not least PS4 was 100 bucks cheaper. 95% games runs better and in higher res on PS4. Those 5% which run better on Xbox One are heavily CPU bound games (Xbox have 10% faster CPU.

8 cores has only been out since 2017 for the general public at affordable price points. Considering how long it take to develop games, there is no way a game could take advantage of 8 cores until now with games coming out next year. And if it wasn't for Ryzen, game developers wouldn't be coming out with games that could take advantage of 8 cores probably for another 5 years.

Xbox Series X needs to beat Sony at their own game. wait for Sony to release their price and undercut them to steal marketshare back. Don't let Sony use the same PS4 launch strategy. if Xbox Series X makes the same mistake like last gen. Sony will destroy Microsoft. Xbox needs a proper launch strategy to beat Sony this next gen console war

1: 23: 35 Pentiums used to be single core CPUs. Now they're dual cores. Quad core cpus used to be $500, now you can get a 6 core cpu for $100 or less. as software requirements increase, hardware tiers will shift and prices will adjust. There will always be hardware that can't game well. This isn't a new, or, in my opinion, concerning issue.

If you-re a PC gamer, PlayStation makes more sense over Xbox. Xbox currently have little to no exclusive games, the ones they have are playable on PC. In short, Xbox Series X might be the most powerful console again, but what-s the point if games are limited compared to PS5 (speculating of course.

Millennial is as insulting, dismissive and stereotypical as any other racial slur- just fyi. It-s NOT ok to use it, in my view.
I bought my Colorado Rockies shirt at the King Super Grocery store. What? WHAT? That-s right, nothing.
