Some people think that supplements are a savior and will help you to overcome other shortcomings in your training and nutrition. In this video, I-m going to tell you the truth and show you 5 things that supplements will not do for you and why you need to be aware of them as you incorporate them into your overall fitness regiment. The first big mistake made by many is to focus too much on the supplement and not enough on the workout. In other words, if you feel as if your work is accomplished because you remembered to take your supplements you are in for a rude awakening. How do I know this? Because I made the very some novice mistake when I first began training. I thought that as long I took my protein (Hot Stuff specifically) that I would magically grow new muscles without caring much about my workouts, my form or even how I was doing each exercise. The opposite approach should be taken. Focus on how to make your workouts more intense and how to get more out of every single second you are in the gym and the supplements as an after thought or an adjunct to that hard training. Let the supplements help translate the high intensity and effort you put into your workout into something incredible when you remain consistent with both. Next, thinking that supplements will be a substitute or help you overcome a poor nutrition plan or bad eating habits is a major mistake. Your nutrition is where your aesthetic results start and stop. If you refuse to get your eating in check and think that you will just use supplements to help you outdo any of the bad you are doing with your poor food choices, think again. In fact, I always recommend that unless you are under 30 percent body fat, I don-t believe that you should be concentrating on supplementation. Beyond that, you also don-t want to get in the habit of thinking about your supplements as meal replacements. There is no replacement for a good sound nutrition plan that fills your body with adequate macronutrients and micronutrients as well as healthy sources of fiber. Liquid protein shakes are great to supplement a meal but not as a meal replacement for one of your big meals of the day. When used as a replacement, I recommend that this occurs in place of a snack and that even then, you are including other foods as well to help round out the meal (like nuts, fruit, etc. Another big mistake is to think that supplements can negate the need for other supplements. For instance, if you are taking a protein powder it doesn-t mean that you don-t need a pre workout. Now, if your goals in your training do not require an improved performance and energy or focus in your workouts then you may not need a pre workout at all. However, in either case, simply taking one does not mean that the other is unnecessary. When done right, supplements should serve a very specific purpose in the big picture and not overlap but compliment each other. Finally, even if you have your supplement game on point and your nutrition and training are locked in, you cannot automatically consider yourself healthy. I know many a guy that thinks this way and then proceeds to drink way too much on the weekend, smoke a pack of cigarettes a day or even use recreational drugs as a form of, well, recreation! None of these things will be able to be undone simply by the fact that you take the latest protein or recovery supplement on the market! If you are looking for supplements that put the science behind their selection and has truth behind every bottle (as far as what is in them and how much, head to and

Jeff, I love your videos and have been watching them for some time. My wife has been watching them as well. Unfortunately, you shot us both in the foot with stooping to use the infamous -F-word- in this one. I'm sure if it offended my wife that bad, it probably does the same thing to other people as well. Just a friendly suggestion: No one EVER will turn off your videos because you aren't lowering yourself to gutter language. But I know at least one who will no longer watch them because you put it in. I hope you take this to heart. I honestly do love your stuff and all the huge help you've been to me.

I'm 183cm 77kg. I work out 3-4 days a week and I try to eat clean (not always but mostly. I can grow muscles (not massive yet I know. I used to be skinny and now I'm gaining weights. But one thing stays the same: fat around my belly is always around, no matter what I eat no matter what my total mass is, no matter how hard I train my abs. I'm thinking of buying hydroxycut or L-carnitine as the last resort out of my frustration. I think I need fat burner after long time of no result cutting fat around my belly area. Any suggestions, guys?

I tell this to people all the time. It's so hard to explain it to people who believe supplements will perform miracles for them, I work at vitamin shoppe and see people coming in for all sorts of things for all the wrong reasons, the two questions I always ask are: what is your activity like, and how is your nutrition, almost any time I feel the need to ask those questions the people give such poor answers. But won't even hear what I have to say about no buying my products. It's insane!

I use a pre-w/o because it's cheaper than picking up red bull at the gas station. I take a multiviatmin because i don't eat enough/can't afford fruits and vegetables. Occasionally drink protien shake for same lack of availability with lean protein. I get what you're saying here because I used to be pretty crazy about trying the latest/greatest whatever thinking it would do somehting magical. In the end it's all about putting time in and working out smarter not harder.

REM sleep, Vitamin D from the sun only, more water, increasing fats from whole foods, more coniferous vegetables and high quality sodium (himalayan pink salt, sea salt, consistent meat protein (with a low inflammatory response in the gut, throughout the day, eating less food but better quality foods only, don't stress. There you go. Not one supplement, and 100 years of disease-free, quality life and gains.

I've been watching Jeff for a little over a year and he doesn't push his supplements on you. I actually don't hear much about his supplements until he does a nutrition video. What he does advocate in EVERY video is the AX program. Supplementation doesn't mean or do a damn thing unless you know how to workout the right way. Supplements by no means make you an athlete.

My arm muscles are all jacked up and the soreness is still there since 3-4 days. May be, it is due to the workout after a long break in the gym. But usually, it doesn't remain for so long. I saw your video on the topic, 'soreness explained', but I didn't find it up to the mark. Can you please help me with this with some video on this?

The humour in your videos is much appreciated. It reminds me that fitness and health should be taken seriously, but that as humans it's important to have fun with everything, especially the things we take seriously. As a newcomer to the world of weightlifting and fitness, I'm grateful for all the videos you put up for free. Thanks!

Thoughts on Huel guys? I-ve been trying it for two weeks. I take it 3 times a day, and it has all the macro and micronutrients you need at 500 calories per shake. I do eat real food throughout the day, but I tend to take fuel 3 out of the four meals I have per day. I do feel great. Just what some one else-s feedback
