Vegans Banned From Fostering Children In Australia!

Vegans Banned From Fostering Children In Australia! Emily: I used to work with placing foster families. It s really important that the children not be forced any particular religious, cultural or dietary stuff. Once a kid is adopted by a family, it s fine. But foster homes are intended to be temporary and the parents actually have a lot of say in what experiences the children have. Noncustodial parents must even be consulted for haircuts. In the US, if the child is native there are even more rules. Foster care is traumatic for children. Disruptions in diet, culture, school, and religion can make it even more disruptive.

Honestly, this should have been verified before this video was made. Just because someone makes a claim on Reddit, that doesn t make it true. I can t help but feel that there s more to this than what this couple is claiming, and that they re just saying this is the reason why because they re disgruntled over having been turned down for other totally legitimate reasons that have nothing to do with what they would be feeding their foster kids. Either way, to jump to conclusions and assume this is true and then pass it off as such without verification doesn t make for a trustworthy video.

I applied (or attempted to apply) to be a foster parent as just a vegetarian some years ago in Western Australia and couldn't even get an application form. I was told quite clearly that without agreeing that I would cook and serve meat I would never be approved. I even tried to apply just to take on kids that are already vegetarian - reason being that when I was ill and had no family my son who I raised vegetarian was fed meat by foster parents but was told that that vegetarian foster parents are not required, even in that situation.

I honestly think it's okay to encourage small children eat a lacto-ova-vegetarian diet. While I don't believe meat is necessary I can fully understand why such legislation seems reasonable to the general public due to so many ridiculously over zealous Vegans starving their kids to death or almost to death. This is one of the many reasons I now prefer to call myself a Strict Vegetarian, & not a Vegan, & why I adhere to many of the concepts put forth by Jethro Kloss & John Harvey Kellogg which encourage ample protein consumption.

There are way more meat eating parents who starve and neglect their children. That behaviour is bad parenting and nothing to do with being vegan or not.

It's terrible that Vegan and Vegetarian Australians are banned from adopting children. Though fans of Ariana Grande have a point. I'm mostly vegan and I have mixed feelings about the vegan community for that very reason people make veganism too much into a religion. I never eat meat anymore because I can't stand the thought of eating animals but encourage don't force upon someone to eat vegan. If everyone cut a large portion of animal products from their lives the industry may disappear.

lmao thinking veganism is healthy for developing children. Some adults might be able to mitigate the negatives of a vegan diet through heavy supplementation, but to subject children to a vegan diet absolutely should be considered abuse.

Ohhhhh, I Love the new animal segment! So many giggles. Lol. And I SO need to laugh today, so Thank you, Brian! Bring on the short inbetween bits. ;P

Vegans would make the most loving parents ever, stopping them is just wrong. But to be fair, most things in Australia are upside down.

What if I want to give them nothing but Dr Pepper. It is not cola, it is not root beer, it is the ultimate agnostic beverage.

great perfect timing for some news. Yes to the animal segment but the most important question where is the mom of the deer?
