The calories in calories out model has been disproven as we know whether your body wants to lose weight depends on how insulin resistent/sensitive you are. If your insulin is high then you won't lose weight no matter how low your calories go as your body is unable to use what you give it for energy since the body no longer responds to insulin. There's a lot more to it than just simple math, our bodies are far more complex than what we've been led to believe. Matt, you are very fortunate to have such a metabolically healthy body and may you maintain that forever but a lot of people's metabolisms are deranged.

So if somebody is eating at a calorie deficit for the day/week but they are over on their daily recommended allowance for fat, are you saying that the overconsumption of fat won't matter and the person won't put weight/fat on? i. e. is the overall calorie deficit the decider in whether somebody puts weight on? is there absolutely no way somebody eating at a deficit can put weight on, no matter what levels/amounts of fat/carbs/proteins they are eating?

It's quite funny how you list the bad restaurants MacDonalds, Burger King yet no mention of KFC. KFC's here havent closed though. Finding low calorie foods is very easy. People can only become obese by simply having no idea how much they are consuming. Not even a toddler in today's age only eats 1000 calories Matt haha. Just ask Luka. Intermittent Fasting is the way to go. Best thing you can do.

There are indirect effects of eating 1cal of fast food vs wholesome food that contribute to body composition. What Matt means when he says his maintenance is 5000 calories is that his maintenance of 'junk' food is 5000 calories. However, I reckon if Matt was to eat more 'wholesome' food, keeping all over variables constant, then his maintenance would be higher than 5000 calories. My hypothesis; LOL.

Everything in moderation. Some people have lack of common sense. Calories in verse calories out. If you're sitting on your arse all day watching tv, then yeah you're going to get far from eating junk. If you're training hard, properly and frequently then you won't get fat from eating junk once a day; twice a week, or however many times a week as you like.

Matt, what do you do for having a maintenance at 5k? That Is extremely high, what do you do besides hitting weights? I'm 190cm, 102kg, about 10%bf, gym 6-7 days a week and on my feet, walking, lifting 8h per day at work and my maintenance is 4-4. 2k, sure metabolism varies from person to person, but damn 5k?

Spot on Matt, Annoying as we still see bad info in newspapers all the time saying choc and crisps are bad to lose weight and eat plenty of white fish, brown bread etc, but a calorie surplus dont care what food its from its still an unwanted surplus if your looking to lose weight,

Mate, I agree with other people here that this video was spot on. Starting with the workout, then going to the food and lastly the talk and advice (of course you're speaking throughout the entire video, but you get what I mean. This is a great format
