A fantastic video, and your a great teacher. thank you! To me technique is more important because, swimming is a workout in and of itself and, is difficult to learn especially at the beginning. You need coordination and working with your breath. Im not a strong swimmer but, I did try running in the water all the way through and, what a fantastic workout that one was! No comparison with running on land thats for sure. Thanks for doing this video.

I am an adult beginner and have always wanted to learn the freestyle swim technique. However I have been very frustrated with my inability to learn the flutter kick because i was having no forward motion. I watched your video very carefully and was so excited when your technique worked for me. I am able to propel forwards now. I still cannot turn for a breath but that is my next hurdle: )
Thanks coach

Hi! Am a beginner for 4 years, need help in a dire way! Here's the deal: I can do all the drills pretty easily, but when I try and kick in Freestyle, it all falls apart -- uneven kicks, splaying legs etc etc and there is SO MUCH resistance that I become easily tired! What is the best way to incorporate solid kicking into the swim itself!

Great videos, but I noticed that it looks like your left fingertips are pointing upward on the left hand forward glide, so that the fingertips are slightly higher than your elbow. Is this just the camera angle distorting the view or can you feel no water resistance with that hand angle?

Very informative, thanks for all the lessons. I think all steps are important but techniques are the most important. I am 59 years old and just started to learn swimming, I am enjoying it but it takes me a lot of effort to learn the correct technique so I can move forward to next steps.

Excellent tips, informative and clear. Good drills for getting the 'feelings' first, to know how to perform efficient forms. accompanied by the knowledge of physics. They would help me to learn and fine tune my freestyle skills as I have started to take swim lessons. Thanks so much.

Kicking the feet should at the very least, keep the legs high in the water, to minimise water resistance. Dont expect much more. The arms provide most of the forward movement. Best single pice of advice Ive heard on technique.

His stroke rate is way too slow causing dead spots where he slows down and then speeds back up. Plus his right fingertips bend up before the catch causing his wrist to drop effectively 'putting on the brakes' which causes drag.

great teaching! Can you solve this problem please? : When I practice the kick, with or without a kick board, after 5-6 metres I come to a complete stand still; I keep kicking but no longer mover forwards, why?

I think understanding the technique is most important. You can have the best coach but if you dont form the technique correctly then you will NOT be a good swimmer. Then PRACTICE for PERFECTION!

Our team had two t-shirts. The sprinter's shirts said When the going gets tough, the sprinters get out. The distance swimmer's shirts said Legs are for dragging.

should my technique be different when I swim in the sea? With waves sometimes it is hard to keep the same technique as i would in the swimmingpool.

Question. Is it me or is it quite strong front quadrant swimming in the video? So almost like a catch up drill? Is this a good way for everyone to swim?
