The mountain was supposed to be for an ice age ride. Other IPs planned for the park includes titanic and aliens Vs Predator. The park has seen rapid construct since 2016 and late last year it seemed to come to a halt. Fox tried to pull out from the licensing deal right after the disney-fox merger news came out. It was reportedly Disney's doing and they said genting's other business which includes the only casino in Malaysia does not fit their family friendly image. Fox said that genting defaulted on the contract due to not being able to deliver within specified time frame. Genting shot back saying that fox has deliberately delayed response and providing and approved concept images for the IPs that has been agreed upon. Genting is suing disney-fox for usd1bil. Before the licensing deal, genting was running its own outdoor and indoor theme park, a casino, live entertainment venues, arcades, and a place atop a hill which people can go to escape the tropical heat in Kuala Lumpur. Now it seems genting is looking for a new partner. Genting/Resorts World also owns and runs universal studios in Singapore so that might be an option. I'm a huge Disney fanatic and as much as I hope that Disney would take over the parks, it is very improbable for this to happen. Genting is not able to bring in the amount of crowd that is expected for a Disney park and Disney doesn't like to give control to 3rd parties on its IPs. Genting will definitely not interested in selling the plot to Disney as the location is an important landmark and holds significant importance to the family of the genting founder which was also allowed to be buried at the base of the hill. It also has good Feng Shui properties and for the owners, having significant changes to the landscape without consulting with a geomancer could mean a disaster to the whole group.

I think the construction has been left in limbo for months due to the ongoing dispute between Fox and Genting. The current park design is actually quite different compared to their originally announced park concept, with several attractions removed or re-themed, such as the Titanic ride. The entire park is repeatedly delayed with numerous problems, and there's still no news on who's going to take over the park or whether if any attraction needs to be re-themed if Fox/Disney does end up dropping the park.

Unfortunately after Disney bought Fox over, construction of the park is in a state of limbo as Disney does not wish to be associated with a gambling business that is Genting. Disney is being sued. The park's future is uncertain. Probably a massive rebranding. They opened the Fox gift store months ahead of the opening. Would really like to see the park at its completion. Fingers crossed

Yup It's True Fox Pulled Out Last Minute Since Disney Owns Fox. If I'm Not Mistaken Because Genting Is Not Just A Theme Park It Also Has A Casino In Its Buildings, So If I'm Not Mistaken That's Why Disney Pulled Out Before It Was Finished, Disney Is A Family Friendly Company And That's Why Disney Doesn't Want To Contribute To It. Although The Theme Park Clearly Doesn't Have Any Big Named Company It's Still Going To Be Launched End Off This Year I Think.

If I'm Not Mistaken Because Genting Is Not Just A Theme Park It Also Has A Casino In Its Buildings, So If I'm Not Mistaken That's Why Disney Pulled Out Before It Was Finished, Disney Is A Family Friendly Company And That's Why Disney Doesn't Want To Contribute To It. Although The Theme Park Clearly Doesn't Have Any Big Named Company It's Still Going To Be Launched End Off This Year I Think.

I think it's great how they blatantly copied famous attractions from other parks and adapted from space, travel, thematic, to something of their own, yes; the most likely is that the firms want to sue and probably their laws are different and allow it by modifying something that makes it different if you can not travel to the US, create something similar in your country, congratulations and I hope to see videos of the attractions soon.

It's not Fox century theme park anymore. They have cancel contract with Genting. Bcoz Disney already buy Fox century & ask them to cancel the contract. Disney is family entertainment base company. so that's why do not want to relate with gambling business company like Genting. So now Genting are looking for another theme park brand to replace.

This place looks amazing I would love to be able to check out this park, either by visiting or through YouTube I heard the Disney/20th Century purchase may be a big delay for the opening of the park. They may have to come up with a new name and retheme a few things. It would be nice to hear any current information on possible opening?

I think genting should rebrand the theme park to a Malaysian Asian brand name. Kayangan Genting or whatever sound local. no more Fox theme park. For instance, the icy mountain can be rebranding as Himalaya, Tibet or Fuji mountain or whatever that suit Asian theme Park. at least we dont depend too much with fox movies characters.
