Crater Lake National Park // Skiing Short Shots for the View - Mountain trips

With a persistent weak layer coating the mountains from Canada to California we scoured the land for the safest and most scenic ski tour. We eventually settled on crater lake national park. On of the best ski strolls Ive ever taken. We even managed to ski a meager 500ft or so down the face of watchman peak. All in all a great day at one of the premier pre historic disaster areas in North America

5 min of you guys talking about why it isnt extreme - because of avalanche danger in other places.
Just enjoy where you are, I was enjoying the views and trip - but if you guys complained 1 more time about avalanche warnings around - lol
Let the nature do the talking.

Careful when you go to Crater Lake. Do not go there alone and do not get separate from each others. stay in tight groups. If you don't. don't come crying later. Always cary a personnal locator beacon and a gun into any of the National Parks in the States and Canada.

15' of cement.
BTW, The Watchman. The time I climbed it was the first winter storm of the year. There was only less than an inch of snow, however the wind blown clouds left flags of rime ice over a foot long on the building and the trees nearby.

been dreaming about that for years, glad someone did it. at the other end of the lake Mt. Scott, it would be awesome, skiing away from the lake would need to do an overnighter. they have snow cat skiing at Diamond Lake, close to Crater Lake.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE DRY HUMOR! And can we all pause for a moment and reflect on what kind of dedication to training, fitness, and health, it takes to do these adventures, and make them look like absolutely nothing. You guys are machines!

I was in Crater Lake in the mid 1970's on a day when there was absolutely no wind, the sky was completely clear, and there was even more snow than you found. Standing on the rim you could tell up from down. Very weird feeling. but fun.

What? U guys were in the nordic capital of the US! Shoulda gone big and done the 50k Crater Lake circumnavigation! Though its a lot easier to do it with a metal edged nordic ski cuz u can get some nice fast gliding in on the flats.

Great video, as always! Been to Crater Lake in July (after all the snow melts) so it was cool to see it in full winter wonderland mode. Someone needs to send Christof some Fila gear to go with those terry cloth headbands! lol

Official Counter: Mediocre Amateur videos since Danny's last puke: 4!
Great video, but Danny fulled through like a champ. Seems Matt and Christof need to push him harder. See you next video.

Wow! the scenery is just amazing! you guys sure put in the hard work cross-county skiing it up to where you want to start from. but again, the beauty of that area is just astounding. congrats!
reply

You guys are smart, people are getting buried all across the west and not paying attention to extreme avalanche warnings. Great view beautiful country, live to fight another day.

When I saw Christopher's headband I thought that maybe in some part of the route some sort of tennis was going to be displayed. Anyway, your videos are awesome! Thank you!

This looks amazing. The music in between adds the tranquility and largeness of nature. Wonderful. Mother Nature is mesmerizing and put things in perspective.

I live about an hour from Crater Lake. The prettiest place Ive ever been to. Probably made 30-40 visits over my life and always amazed at its beauty.

If youd looked at a map, then you wouldve known that you can drive to the rim or ski up Raven Trail from where you started without crossing a road.

Great job guys. It looks wonderful and youre so lucky to do it. I would love to have a similar group of friends to do such cool skiing with.
reply

Nice to watch you guys again.
Pls. Check out lassen national park too.
Be safe and glad that you guys are considering safety!

Gorgeous scenes, love the snow and solitude. I skied part of that trail on my tele skis about 25 years ago. Nice bird-feeder, too: )

Yall should do the Virginia Triple Crown Loop. 30 miles and nearly 8, 000ft of climbing some of the hardest sections of the AT trail
reply

You guys may of only skied 800 vert, but damn those conditions look primed. Must of been some of the softest turns of the season.
