The White Rim Trail is a 100 mile jeep road that cuts through some of the most scenic parts of Canyonlands National Park. We decided to do the loop counter clockwise and start at the entrance for the park. It was Christofs birthday wish to ride this loop otherwise I probably never would have done it. I'm glad I did. I'm even more glad I did it on a day when the temperatures were peaking at 80. These 100 miles expose the rider to a lot of desert views as the trail runs along the Green and Colorado river. Candle stick tower, Junction bluff, Washerwoman and Airport tower will forever be seared in my mind as we slowly road around these name worthy landmarks on the sand and sandstone trails that make up The White Rim

I know you guys do tough stuff all the time but still I thought your tone at the beginning was a little lighthearted, especially for just getting a new bike for the trip! It's a long tough ride especially in the heat. you guys wised up at the end, and I laughed about it taking 2 years off Danny's life. There's more rock crawling than you showed, and deep sand, it's not all flat, fast gravel. And BTW, replacing a broken spoke is a really cheap repair, I'm sure you discovered! Thanks for the footage and job well done.

Happy Birthday Christof, glad Danny managed to deal with having type I (rather than II) fun for your b'day outing! Imagine: nobody vomited, got benighted, met a bear, ate gas station food or got cliffed up: D I only wish there'd been a cafe/restaurant where Christof could've got a beer and a sandwich and laughed while Danny got frustrated by the painstakingly slow service. THAT would've been the perfect birthday present!

IMO it shouldn't be that expensive to replace one spoke and re-true the wheel unless cannondale has some crazy proprietary spoke shit. But it's worth carrying a 2-3 spare spokes and nipples so you can just slap another in and guesstimate the tension, can still ride pretty hard. Alsy why I like 28-32 count spoke wheels, at 170 lbs I don't think twice about 31/32 spokes. just remove it, check the others, and keep going.

Great video as usual Danny. Good mix of entertainment with some solid filmmaking as well. Still using the rx100/phone/GoPro combo to film everything? Im thinking about getting the rx100 vii for the zoom range. Youre using that model right? Thoughts compared to the a6xxx series cameras for this type of stuff? Thanks man!

I've ridden a mountain bike for decades in the Midwest-Illinois area doing 100+ for fun. But also have ridden many miles in Moab. One of the best things about Canyonlands and the White Rim Trail is the scenery and solitude - something not found out my way. It also gives you an appreciation for all you have.

If you ever get a broken spoke slightly bend it or straighten it out and hold the nipple and turn the spoke out like a hand crank drill it won't be a problem and 1 spoke is only like $1 the spokes go in and out every other hole then over over under you're smart enough to figure out the pattern

At the beginning of May, I did the Druid Arch / Chesler Park loop and it was amazing. Canyonlands really does need to be seen in person to fully appreciate it. A bit jealous of your weather though, I got stuck in that 90 degree heat wave. Happy birthday!

My hat off to you guy's for doing this trail in one day on bicycles in such high temperatures your lucky you didn't get a heat stroke and yes I've done this trail five different time but not using bicycles.

How awesome! I did the WRT two days ago from horsethief parking lot and it was over 95 degrees for a good part of the day. Absolutely worth it but that high of 78 you mentioned sounds much more appealing!

Happy Bday Cristof! It looks like you could lower your seat about 5mm. You look pretty extended. Give it a try and see how it goes. Might be a game changer by engaging your glutes more in the pedal stroke.

3: 40 anyone know what the music is? Excellent filming, editing and music overlays on all the videos. I have a flexible kevlar reinforced spoke for emergency repairs. Bought it in the U. S.

Hey Danny. Since the other guys only want to mountain bike let me know if you need a guy to mountain run with. I live in sandpoint Idaho and travel everywhere. Thanks for the content guys!

haha for my birthday this year I scheduled a 6 hr trail run/hike in WI. It was -30 degrees F. ONE friend showed up. That said it was the one friend I knew would and we had a blast.

I dirt bike out that way a bunch. Its super fun to bring the peddlers extra water. The look on their faces as I hand treats/cold drinks over is pretty satisfying.

I don't get it: how much do spokes cost? Also, it looks like this route could be tackled on a gravel bike--although they may not have filmed the rockiest sections.

Lol Danny's such a diva. Great video, appreciated that on the last one you complained about everyone mountain biking and then you get roped into it as well

How expensive is it in the US to fix a spoke? I'd reckon 5$ for a high end DT Swiss spare and some meditative centering which takes 20min and a coffee.
reply

100 miles that's crazy what was it all switchbacks? I've only ever done 25 and it was 12 miles distance as a crow flies that would take me like 5 days

Great video. Did that ride on a day notice. I did it when it was over 85 probably 90 that day. WOnt do it again. Lots of better trails around the area
