Thanks to all the people we met on the trail for stopping and saying hello. You help keep the stoke alive. In this episode we set out to summit the North Sister in the Three Sisters Wilderness. A day or two earlier a small storm with strong winds had plastered the rock faces on the west slope with thick rime ice. As we rounded the corner onto the west face the mountain seemed to fall apart as chunks of ice constantly broke off and tumbled by. So the Amateurs regrouped and discussed their situation. Should we summit or should we go over and ski the very appealing Middle Sister? Also, didn't even notice matts joker sunscreen look until I got home and looked at the footage

I for one would never second guess the decisions made by others in the moment. I am not there. You are. Good on you for knowing you're gonna get grief and saying the heck with it and doing the right thing in the moment. The mountaineers decision is to retreat and return another day. Thanks for posting!

Tried climbing north sister a couple summers ago. No snow on the mountain and it was very sketchy. Got to the traverse and turned around, Definitely the right decision on the guys part. Skree is everywhere! I almost pulled a Boulder out on me, saw my life flash before my eyes. Good video!

As a less experienced 'mediocre amateur', I often feel the urge to just 'push through' even when my gut is saying 'no'. Really helpful to see when you all asses and make the decision to re-direct/change plans, even if that means not summiting. . love your content; keep on bootn'

Sometimes, you guys are too dude, bro. Im not turning around because Im a wuss. No, you turned around because it was a smart decision and because no mountain is worth your life or wellbeing. Own it. North Sister didnt want you to ski her that day.

The volcanoes you can see to the north of the Sisters are Jefferson, Hood, and then Adams. St Helens and Rainier aren't far beyond that but they're obscured by some of the other hills. Lassen would be to the south, beyond McLoughlin and Shasta.

You are all very fortunate to have each other as friends. I think you know that. This is rare to see men in this culture bond as you all do. Cheers!

agree with everyone else, definitely a smart move to turn around before the summit. this just means that next year you guys need to link all 3 summits!

The best way to ensure that you don't need a piece of gear, is to bring that piece of gear. GOODNESS, nothing truer has ever been said!
