From Overpriced Gondola Rides to Slippery Streets to Overpriced and Underwhelming Tourist Restaurants this Video Covers What You Shouldn't Do When you Go to Venice, Italy. Italy is an amazing city, well worth visiting and exploring, but there are a few things tourists and travelers should avoid or not do when they come to Venezia, Italia. Don't - bring too much luggage, having to lug it over all of those bridges and down long streets is not a fun thing to do, Don't - be surprised if the locals have different lines than the tourists Don't - pay for a toilet, go get a Spritz or a Coffee instead. You have to pay for something make it a treat, not a toilet. Don-t - expect a cheap gondola ride. they are a bit pricey and you will need to pay more to get him to sing. Don't - forget to explore outside the main island of Venice. There are great places to visit around Venice like the Murano glass factories or farther afield in Padova and Vicenza. Don't - be surprised if you have walk on risers occasionally when the city floods. Don't - wear skimpy clothes if you are hoping to get into Basilica San Marco. There are a lot more don'ts of visiting Venice, but why don't you watch and learn more!

I really wanted to hear your message. But you talk like gattling-gun fire. Rapid. It's as if you are on a time limit and you are eager to get all your words out as quickly as possible before you get into time-out. Try to relax. Talk animatedly, informatively but not at a million words a minute!
We spent 2 x 10 day holidays in Venice (and one in Pisa) and we probably fell into most of the tourist pitfalls you are going to warn tourists against. But we had the most wonderful, magical time. It was awe-inspiring, breath-taking and we found that 3 hours was the max we could 'tour' before we went into cultural exhaustion. The Doges Palace was a 2 day visit. And even now we feel that another day would be beneficial in enabling us to really take in and fully appreciate the magnificent historical; architectural and artistical exhibits on offer. If anyone is contemplating a Venice holiday I say go for it. You will not regret one minute. But on reflection, you just might regret falling into the very expensive tourist traps that await all innocent, gullible visitors.

I got SO lost with my Rick Steves map because it doesn't cover the entire area. I wandered off from the public garden and found out none of it was on the map! I got into a place where I needed a Venice Biennale ticket to go further and then was told I should take a boat to leave where I was (even though I didn't need to take a boat to get there. Fortunately the boat was just arriving. And then when I got to the next spot I was told to take another boat! Fortunately, the guy at that 2nd boat launch could point out on the map where I was and I could just walk! Freaky but fun even on a SUPER hot day! Didn't speak a word of Italian and could still get all the help I needed!

An honest assessment of what to do in Venezia, thanks for the report.
I absolutely love the city! And I prefer to visit in winter or very early springtime (depending on carnival. I buy a week pass for transportation and don't worry about buying anymore tickets. I prefer a hotel on the outskirts (near the train station, cheaper & quieter. .It's so enjoyable to get lost wandering the various islands - countless wonderful photographic opportunities. I never frequent tourist restaurants, but prefer to eat and drink where the locals do. A truly unique and wonderful experience!

Grande Wolters! Ti voglio bene, grazie!

Don't stay overnight in Venice and eat as rarely as possible in Venice. Venice has been a rip off since the middle ages. Padua is 1/2 hour train ride from the Venice train station and trains run frequently. Padua has reasonably priced hotels and reasonably priced restaurants serving real Italian food, served by polite people: so different from Venice. Make a daily commute to Venice from Padua.

Getting lost in Venice happens very quickly and is absolutely amazing. My dream is to have like a travel hunt competition in Venice where you have to find certain things/places and do certain challenges at certain places. Doing that will unlock coordinates to a final meeting point which you have to get to before other teams beat you or before the timer runs out.

Born and raised in Venice, can't say I am a fan of tourists, especially those who don't respect the city. And for f sake, no, you cannot drive a car in Venice even if the GPS tells you the hotel is 1 Km away. And don't get started on cruise ships. they are destroying Venice. Do some research before coming here, you'll enjoy it more.

If you want to walk slowly, then walk in single file, local hate us tourists when we block the whole street while licking on an ice cream, also, do not sit on the bridges or take forever to take a photo, let people go first, the local do have places to go or job to go to, not everyone is on vacation there.

I live near Venice and I love going there sometimes and just purposely get lost, it's so fun and you discover so many hidden treasures, also I recommend to avoid visiting Venice when is full of tourists because it's a nightmare and most important: DON'T TOUCH THE CANALS WATER just don't

Nice video, Venice is great! I went there with some of my friends. I loved it. Bulgarians and Itallians are so similar. Both Southern-Europeans. Bulgaria is also very nice place to be visited, so I'll love to see a video from my country when you travell to Bulgaria!
