I follow most of these except the black cat and fear of 13. I'm generally a practical scientific person but I like the rituals of superstitions. it's a kind of cultural continuity. I only pick up heads up pennys and I knock wood as a reflex when someone makes any positive statement. I once commented that I hadn't had a cold in 3 years and didn't knock wood and got sick the next day. And not walking under a ladder or breaking a mirror are really safety admonitions as much as superstitions. Also I've always had good days on Friday the 13th. 2 more are never light 3 cigarettes with one match or light and never close a folding knife somebody else opened.

I grew up with the superstition of never putting shoes on a table. Even if they're in a box & brand new. It's bad luck. Plus you never want to put your shoes on anyone's table (gross.
We also were raised to believe that if you wish ill of anyone then it'll come back on you. Wish your nosey neighbors would move? Just means a worse neighbor could be waiting to move in.
This is why my worst insult to people is that I hope they step on a Lego. lol. Btw, I have four kids & never walk around my house w/o shoes.

So when you are on the 14th floor you're actually on the 13th. And when you're on say the 24th you're actually on the 23rd. I can't believe people are so afraid of a number they actually build structures that way. I also get a good laugh from the mirror superstition. I do a lot of bathroom remodels for my job and have broken a lot of mirrors because the previous installer decided to glue them to the wall. I should have a few hundred years of bad luck but I'm fine.

I am from the US so I knew these but I always find superstitions interesting and I enjoyed learning some of the reasons for the superstitions, like the the salt of horse shoes. I will have to check out your website for others. I would love to see videos on other countries superstitions or unique holidays. Like Scottish or Irish could be really interesting.

I actually was eating with one of my bosses once and he spilled some salt and rushed and threw some over his shoulder. We all just stared at him. Afterwards we'd all make sure to spill some salt whenever we eat with him.
(After a couple of times he refused to ever eat with us again. He was a fun guy)

I live with a black cat my dad thinks she's the reason he hurt his hand, 1 time he hit the brakes & turned his truck around because a black cat ran across the road in front of him. Oh my house has 13 (12 & 1/2) steps in the upper hallway.

Never did ant of these things. Even as a kid I was too busy studying science. People for the most part delight in superstitions. They regard a single drop of the sea of delusion as preferable to an ocean of certitude. Baha'u'llah, Baha'i Faith

Oh, & when someone passes away, you have to open a door ir window so their soul can have an easier exit. Or so I hear.
And not related to superstitions per se, but every time I'm driving & I see a hearse, I get chills so I cross myself.

Oh cool! Black cat is followed in India too. Theres this stereotype where when a traditional dude watched a black cat cross his path, they immediately turn around head back to their house to absolve the bad luck

In ancient Ireland the Leprecauns would warn you about your impending death because the Ban Shiog was wailing.
You would hear wail of the The Ban Shiog (the fairy woman.
The dreaded Banshee.
