Krakow is beautiful. Shame stag weekends will damage the place like Riga, Bratislava etc. Us Brits innit. You must go to Auschwitz. The organised tours are ok at about 30 quid but I'd recommend getting a minibus from the central bus station for a fiver return! It's v well signposted with plenty of information boards etc and you get more time especially in Birkenau which is the most desolate place I've ever seen. I took my 14 year old daughter the second time as everyone should see the barbarism as soon as they can attempt and attempt is all you can do to appreciate humanity at its worst and to never let it happen again. The biggest shock is there's modern housing literally built overlooking the camp. Still freaks me out. The airport link to the new train station is excellent and the Galleria was a really pleasant shopping centre that I didn't expect.

My impressions of Krakow (10 years ago): 1. Hardly no decent car parks near the city center. I found one, but it was a piece of land with shabby fence and unpaved surface. Just 500 yards or so from the Main Square! 2. Signage in the streets confusing or non-existent. I couldn't get out from the down town towards Warsaw - driving around like in a labirynth. 3. Very old buldings - we had a dinner in a 'stylish' restaurant. I was really scared to walk the squeaking wooden stairs. 10 pm on the Main Square: we are people in the 50ties and 60ties - not stag party thugs - the security officers with the city emblems on their uniforms theatened us with coercion measures. They did not allow us to walk across the Main Square because of some odd reason which I could not understand well. NEVER AGAIN.

I too was impressed with the friendliness of the Polish people. One our first night in Krakow and Poland we couldn't get into our apartment, in fact we couldn't even find it as the map was wrong and couldn't figure out how to use the key pads on the main door. Fortunately we asked a Pol for help, he was also on holiday in the city with his partner. He spent so long with us on a cold dark night, helped us find our apartment and told us how the keypads worked. We were so grateful to this kind man, I hope he enjoyed his holiday in the city as much as we did. Love Krakow, Poland and it's people. Greetings from the UK, we worked very close with each other during WWII (sorry for the stag/hen parties of today, they are a blight on every city.

It looks beautiful I have a good friend of mine whohad been in Krakow, and of course Warschau. Beautiful places and according to hime well cared for and maintained, and cheap.
The only thing as I have to be a bit political here is Andrzej Sebastian Duda a current homophobic dictator, so Polska is no place for LGBTQ+ people to visit. It is heading in the direction of Heinrich Himmler! The so galled 'Gay Zones' (gay ghettos) et al. If you are member of the LGBTQ+ Community, it is now NOT so safe!
Wait until Douchbag (Ducha) is out of power (his battery runs out.

Yeah, Cracow and Poland in general is cheap. unless you are Polish or you work in Poland and get the Polish salary for us, Polish people, tourist cities like Cracow, Warsaw or Zakopane are certainly not cheap. In fact, many of us for vacation just go to their relatives' houses (I mean the relatives who are lucky enough to be living at the countryside or seaside) because they can't afford much more.

Shocks or surprises? One surprise was that, being over 70, travel on trams an buses was free!
If you visit Auschwitz, and youre human, you may suffer some emotional challenges. Our guide cried and it was her hundred and twentieth tour. I cannot blame her.
Dont forget Nowa Huta, the planned industrial city next door. It makes an interesting comparison to Krakow.

3: 18 if you see these, TRY THEM, i absolutely LOVE this kind of cheese, its called Oscypki and is made from sheep milk. Its best kind of cheese i ever had.
Tho sheep can't be milked all year, so when its out of season, they might use cow milk instead which is not as good, but still kinda good

The British coming to bachelor parties are a failure. They scream, mumble, are dirty, drunk, burp, stagger, dress up in strange costumes and think they are funny. Sometimes I wonder what their future wives would say if they saw them. They look crooked.
