Olut would always mean lager as everything else beerwise kinda vanished with Alko who was the only legal buyer and they paid the same for all beers no matter if it was tasty or not. So all non-lager lines were abnadoned. Now that smaller breweries and selling to restaurants are legal. or partially legal. other types of local beers can be found. Not to be overlooked if it can be found: Kotikalja. Its a 0, 01%) so even kids can drink that stuff. Or ust Kalja, which is confusing as some call beer kalja, even tho its the much milder practically nonalchoholic drink. A healthier alternatove to coca cola.
And besides. read up on Prometheus and his punishment; )

Yes don't tip in Finland: Things are expensive partly because workers actually get payed. Also in many companies the worker is not allowed to keep tips; tips are property of the company. For example the supermarket where I work people have started to tip the cashier. They refuse to get their exchange etc. This is annoying since the worker can't have that money. He/she should put that money in the register and then report that extra money to the system.
Instead. cashiers simply leave that money on the cash table for some less lucky individuals to use or they put that money in the Help! -box for those who come short on payment.

One very important thing. Travel around, go to small cities and take a hotel room and just walk around. There you can see real Finland. Helsinki is helsinki, it's not kind a real and doesnt represent whole finland. It's kind a fake and rude city considered by rest of finnish people, many places are just for tourists and are very expensive comparing to rest of the country. Same thing in lappland. And even that helsinki is safe for tourists, rest of finland is even more safe. Go to small resorts by some small lakes, small cabins in small town camping areas etc.

I really want to visit Finland in the future during summer. It may be after or possibly during college (2021-2025.
Top 5 Reasons (In No Order):
Its the capital of metal music
There is beautiful, clean nature
The people there are introverted, yet joyous like me
Plentiful summertime sunlight
Sauna

The swedish city and street translations make no sense at all and that's one of those 'finnish logic' things that really is weird. There's not a single swedish speaking person in this country that would go like 'helsinki? what is that? oh you mean helsingfors? '. Waste of tax money.

Lakes near Tampere were mentioned, but for me as a Finn, the Lake Saimaa region is in a league of its own. Especially Savonlinna, Punkaharju, and you must try the road 62 from Mikkeli to Puumala. Stunning views!

Now we know life in america really sucks for most people. Tha fact that we are used to living here and the fact lots of people never travel limits us from seeing things and knowing things.

Price tip about Finland: at lunchtime mondays to fridays most restaurants have lunchtime menus, usually but not always buffets, the price is around ten euros.
