The confederation trail is nice to bike/walk as well and going kayaking or canoeing in some of the little rivers like Morell river is gorgeous as well. Someone mentioned the rip tides though at the beaches and there HAVE been tourists that didn't know about them and have had unfortunate encounters. They are dangerous, so be sure to read up about that before you play in the waves (watch your kids in the water for sure. It's too bad you seem to have gone too late to get the Rainbow Valley experience: ( It closed down years ago but was a much loved and very creative little theme park for families. If you want to know about the local history then a book by David Weale is a great way to get some older local stories and tales of ghosts and superstitions. PEI is apparently the place with the most Scottish ancestry outside of Scotland itself and does subtly share lots of culture. The sayings and accents are usually pretty interesting to tourists as well. Check out that celtic music scene on the east end with the Rollo Bay fiddle festival in July or the Ceilidh's around the island!

I visited last July! Loved it. Of course I went to the Anne of Green Gables House and they have a new interpretive center which is well done. PEI National Park on the north coast was my favorite. Province House unfortunately was completely torn up for renovation and Charlottetown traffic was a mess. I stayed in Summerside, the second largest city, on the western side and enjoyed it. Dont forget to take a photo of the Confereration Bridge. Victoria is a cute town with a playhouse for live theater on weekends.

Years ago, I had a young traveling ICU RN preceptee who conveyed that wherever he may visit or travel in this world, PEI will always remain his beautiful home. After reading the books as a child and hearing my young preceptee as an adult, I want to visit this beautiful place. As always, thank you for sharing

When all this is over you have to come to New Brunswick Canada. We are in Shediac which is the Lobster Capital of the world. Also we are 50 minutes from the Hopewell Rocks where the highest tides in the world are. I own a motel and visitor cottages. I will gladly put you up.

I loved visiting in high school and want to go back. Speaking of literary tourism, have you ever visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder home sites?

The Anne series was a hallmark of my childhood. Anne of the Island was my all time favorite. I would love to visit someday.
