for english peeps wanting to learn lithuanian - forget english, or don't learn lithuanian lmao. but if you do want to learn here's some advices.
first things first - be motivated, communicate with lithuanians, preferrably teens or people under 30, forget about the english r pronounciation, it's useless here, you have to roll the rs when speaking, it will probably be hard, some lithuanians can't do it too: D word emphasis is also important, because we do it very different from english, so i'd suggest you to see the dictionary when learning once in a while and try pronouncing the words. it can be a real tongue twister sometimes, especially for foreigners, but as i said, communicating with native lithuanian speakers is crucial here if you want to speak the language. try noticing how people pronounce, then repeat it yourself, if you don't know what the word means you can ask basically anyone on the street and they will tell you.
now about people - if you see anyone that looks dangerous here then you probably shouldn't speak with him/her on the street. yes, sometimes it can be a nice guy/girl, but most of the time expect agressive kas tau yra lol, but most people just mind their own business on the street and are friendly. many lithuanians are judgy, especially old people from soviet era or teens that weren't really taught how to act properly, those people most of the time will keep their opinion about you to themselves, but they could say some mean shit so just ignore them, those people aren't happy and they just mostly just take it out on others. also if you don't want to randomly be beat up for not giving a cigarette avoid Kaunas lol, tho it's not that bad.
all in all, Lithuania is great, if you adapt quickly and know how to speak at least a little basic lithuanian you will have a good time here, just try to visit in summer months for a decent weather to go to places here.

I loved Lithuania and hope to go back. My husbands grandparents were from there and came to USA to escape Russia and wouldnt allow their children to go go there. We loved every minute of our visit, on an economy tour, just the 2 of us and our driver and a guide who took us around, we felt rich! Kaunas, Palanga, then Vilnius, stayed and travel in between. I felt like home in Vilnius, and I have no Lithuanian blood running through my veins.

The bugs dont happen each year: ) Some years its worse, some years its better, for example this year, there were little hornets and similar annoying flying bugs, I wouldnt say we had a lot of mosquito this year as well. It depends on the climate and some bugs seems to have breeding cycles, for example Maybugs seem to be born every four years, although they are nor harmful in any way.

Lithuania is a really unique and beautiful country!
It has a norther European soul with an open mind approach. I am Italian and just love it!
Never define them slavic or, even worse, Russian but appreciate they are the pearl of Baltic Republics. Lithuanians are very proud European and very much loyal to Nato!
Visit Vulnius, it's one of the most beautiful city in Europe

Forgets this video. 100% BS. If you for some reason want to visit Lithuania, just be yourself and you will be fine. Lithuanian understand different cultures and are not conservative, like say Brits. If anything Lithuanians/Pols. are the people who are doing the dirty jobs in GB so they understand British culture and speak good English.

I do not get why no shoes in the house is unusual. I can not imagine walking with dirty shoes in someones house. I mean that will make them vacuum/clean afterwards just because of that. How come people walk with shoes in someones house is beyond me
