I absolutely LOVE traveling to lesser known areas of popular countries rather than the major hotspots! If these countries I mentioned in this video are on your bucket list, I have a challenge for you. Before booking a ticket to the capital city, do some deeper research about the country you-re traveling to. Find off the beaten path destinations that you could visit in these places. Tourism is never going to stop so it might as well be better distributed across countries rather than a dense concentration of tourists in very specific areas. Some places are definitely touristy for good reasons but there-s so much more to the world than the Top 10 tourist attractions! Stephan: Okay first thanks for the work of the video, but i mean why should Americans even I as german should avoid for example Rome. They are so touristic because nobody wants to miss these cities before they die and for sure a lot of people spending a lot of money only to see these cities. It is a dream for them especially when they live in US or Australia.

as a traveller myself because of my job and italy and japan and south korea are my favourite countries in the world and been to those countries a number of times and will be going back once this disease will come to an end. Lexie yes agree with your comment about rome and its all about timing that is dont go during the summer months but april, and may or september and october its fantastic because the city is beautiful and vibrant but more important its history and culture important in the world. spend more time going Metera and you wouldnt be disappointed, james bond was there. to the point italy is a live musesum with breathtaking landscape with also the dolomites that will take your breath away of its beauty. your video is well done but telling people not going to some places is not right but people should go but timing is important to avoid the crowd.

I grew up in Interlaken, Switzerland and let me tell you, as someone who was born here, this place is overrated but tourists especially from Asia seem to hotspot here. We have less swiss culture here every year, the city is rebuilding for tourists with only clock and luxury shops and there are far better places to be for hiking than here. We have only a few real swiss restaurants and shops left that i hope won't get swallowed by the tourist morgul here. If you want to experience Switzerland, rather go to Grindelwald, Aargau, Bern, Thun or smaller villages.

hey lexie! I-m a local resident of hawaii and found your videos as I want to get off the island to become a solo female traveler myself. You stated everything perfectly and I-m really impressed by how respectful you were when mentioning locals living in these extreme tourist bound areas. The influx of tourist have been a huge problem and only getting worse here -post-covid- I hope to become a budget traveler who supports local businesses and gain genuine experiences with locals outside of the over populated tourist attractions.

Been in most of those places and unfortunately even in low season is hard to enjoy the place mainly because locals have lost their patience and is hard to find the connection with people the way you find in places where they get few visitors. Buildings, beaches, etc are amazingly beautiful but travel is not all about that.

Thank you for this video. I currently try to change my hubbies plans to travel to cancun mexico because i want to avoid this tourist hotspot. But the media has pressed into his brain that only there the best attractions are to be seen and that you have to visit it. I'd rather travel the south east of mexico.

On Hawaii, Hawaiian people have literally said stop coming. Currently they are cutting off water from locals to compensate for the tourist (on top of that they do not have enough hosptial beds for the potential risk of covid and they continue to have relics and cultural sites vandalized.

Well, i don't know about anyone else but I think her views were from her perspective only. -
What if someone was Interested in visiting those popular places only.
And also personally, I love crowds rather than being in a crowd less place.

But lots of these places rely on tourism no? So by not going to any tourist town paces at all ur not rly helping their economy as long as ur respectful to the ppl and area there shouldn-t b a reason not to go especially if u have went
