I spent a week there a couple of years ago and it was really nice to finally get to see in person what we all have seen millions of times in movies. It's great for shopping and having fun, but not a great place to live if you're not rich (the city is too busy too. I personally liked Montreal (in Canada but not too far) much better and have a feeling I'd like Boston more too

I live in New York, even though I live there its always a great experience because since the city is so big, you can see different things all the time just taking a walk outside.
