These Monasteries were built from the blocks of far more ancient buildings. The ancient blocks are cut far more precisely and it's quite obvious the Monastic builders were less advanced in their stone cutting abilities. Sadly a sight all too common all around the world.

I can recommend watching and listening to these videos in an altered state. The question that should be asked beforehand though is beyond the beauty, how deep are you prepared to go and are you equipped.

These monuments in the volcanic landscape are increadible! I read about them and long wanted to see them. Geghard is my favourite. It is unique; carved from the rocks.
