I head out in the woods to do some camping in heavy rain. I setup my cabin tent and show you my full setup for rain camping, including tent, tarp, sleep system, cooking and fire. It rains non-stop but that doesn't stop us from having a fun time! Setting up a tarp first would be essential for our tent in the rain - it's one of those dome tents with a mesh inner that has to be set up before the rain fly can be put on it. A tarp would at least mean that the inner could be set up without filling up with rain. and if the tarp's up, there really wouldn't be much need to put the rain fly on the tent at all. in fact, if the tarp's up, screw the tent, let's put up the hammock.

Rarely comment but absolutely love your content and yearning to do more rainy camping etc myself but am cursed to live in a region where the laws very harshly prohibit wild camping and it either doesn't rain, very lightly drizzles for 4 hours max or hoses the world down for 15 minutes and then stops.
In other words: Greetings from Germany, please give us more of the long rainy camping videos that my heart desires

thanks for sharing this nice video, really enjoyed it. Yeah the weather was a bit rough this weekend also in the Netherlands. Only my commuting trip from Rotterdam towards home (100km to mid south next to Belgian border) my VFR bike stepped a few times 50cm to the left with the hard wind friday afternoon. nice to see you still went out camping in these nice woods.

Great video, some really good applications there. Great tent, cheers for the link. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I’ve been in England many times as me mum was born and raised in Cheltenham & the closest thing to camping I’ve ever seen is a caravan. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very refreshing to see. Is there a large camping/ outdoor community in the UK.

17: 13 I am from NE Scotland; it was when you mentioned smocks. I haven't heard that word since I was in infant/primary school, where our art teacher made us wear smocks. I got one of those flashbacks I was back in art class again. Just wish I really was NO BILLS

Comment 445: Songs from the Wood by Jethro Tull. my favourite album sleeve even has the bendy branch holding the pot. Garlic. smash with the side of your knife, remove the 'skin' then chuck in the pot. Mushrooms. Never ever. Other than that. Respect

That's a nice setup for a washout camp. At 70 years old, I tend to reschedule if it looks like rain for the whole time I'm there. Got nothing to prove. But I would do one with that setup. Greetings from a mountaintop in West Virginia, USA

I'm watching from north central Oklahoma in the USA Can't say that it seems this camping trip would be real comfortable in all that rain. As long as you like it that's all the matters. Hang in there stay safe and healthy.

From the BC, on the wet coast of Canada. Tarp over tent just gives you more possibilities and make everything just that much more rain safe. That does look like a marvelous set up. Thank you for taking us along.

No such thing as bad weather, however you can have clothing and equipment that is poorly suited for the conditions. Always cool watching you demonstrate little tricks of the bush craft. Rain on tarp ASMR

Thanks for the many practical tips Mike. Watching from Hiroshima Japan. I enjoy kayaking, fishing and wild camping on and around the many islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Also a TA Fishing fan!

Watching from a sofa in Bolton - please rent space in your woods to evaluated 'crafters who really want somewhere to go without the 'legal' hassles. Or run courses. Or both.

good setup for the most part but your pillow looks horrendous. I had the hardest time trying to find a good one and settled on a Nemo one and it's a game changer.

Watching from South West Idaho USA.
I spent a lot of time as a teen sleeping under a tarp camped next to the river with friends up in the North Cascades.
