FLYING A PLANE for the First Time in 20 Years! Echoindiajuliet: Great vid noel i fly 737s during my day job and its been about 10years since i properly flew a Cessna/warrior on my own. I like you hope to get back into it some day. I did my flight training in bournemouth all the way back then and really enjoyed hours building in the south of the UK. Apart from the listening squawk you mentioned do people even use their CRP5s and Charts nowadays or do they just use Garmins or their own handheld GPS devices to Navigate around the place. Using Speed, distance, time calculations and max drift etc and finding that little town of tilsbury etc with the railway track and small pond was always the most satisfying part of VFR flying! Lovely touch and gos love the squeek/greasing sound

LOL My expereince exactly - Marriage curtails the aviator. although my version of 1st Class Rach - Premium Class Steph did sponsor a few simulator experiences on a Boeing 737 and Phantom fighter jet where I was able to successfully land both ( the latter on a carrier. Did also get back in a Cessna last year and as you said you dont forget - did a greaser of a landing. Re your own flight I was expecting a victory roll over your house with some coloured smoke - maybe next time!

This gives me hope and inspiration. Back in 2013, 14 and 15 I did my PPL course and got my license but obviously now life has happened. Haha! I want nothing more than to get back into it. Im now 31 and Im now working on a budget and plan of action to get back in the Cessna. Excellent video Noel and I love the roar of that engine, it brings back fantastic memories, some of my best in fact. Keep these vids coming!

Flying the plane is great but once you are up it is just sitting there burning money is why I quit flying the club planes. I do not have the resources for my own was the next step for me but you might have inspired me to reconnect with my license and a 172. maybe 182 my favorite ride. bigger more stable and faster 6 cylinder sounds great. thanks for the flight Noel I needed that!

Pretty cool you were able to get the pilot license valid again! Always fun to see the airports/places, etc. but has to be even MORE fun if you can fly there yourself.
BTW. how was the service on this flight? Was the crew rude or friendly? HA! Good stuff Noel!

Noel, great that youre back in the air! You should really try to get your instrument rating to become an even more proficient pilot. You will be able to fly in the clouds and not worry about the weather being VFR to go flying!
reply

Heyyy go Noel! Youre doing just great! Those clouds looked a bit threatening though. We had thunder yesterday in Bristol! Keep flying - have you ever thought of becoming an airline pilot? Xxx

Inspiring mate - I got my PPL in 2006, flew off on the semi regular until 2013 and have not flown since - I'm looking forward to getting back up in the skies! Nice video as always

I loved that you flew over your house and timed it so your wife could film you as you flew overhead. Awesome video! Hope to see more in-flight videos from Captain Philips soon. :-)

Great landings Noel I did my PPL at Biggin Hill years later CPL/IR at Dubai fantastic flying out of OMDB and microlight ING at Ras Al Khaimah. Give it a try! Safe aviating buddy

Just come across this video, Sandtoft is nice enough, Humberside Airport is painless to fly into if you wanted an easy international airport to fly into

No business class and 62p per mile in economy. The aircraft are pretty tired but I will be flying with that airline again - Great aircrew.
reply

Noel - should you really be playing with your phone during your first flight? Honestly. Otherwise, your videos are very entertaining.
reply

Hi Noel similar situation for me with a PPL not flown for about 5 years, just wondering what was involved to renew your license?
reply

Try powerless flight. I flew from Curbar Edge right over Sheffield City Centre and on to Hull. No PPL only BHPA license and nature.
reply

best part i liked was seeing your wife and kids flying above them and filming, loved seeing your flight from 2 perspectives
reply

I just flew in this aircraft out of Sandtoft down to Skegness and Back up! Funny that your were in the same aircraft as me!
reply

Thanks for the video Noel. How many hours did it take you to re-qualify? I have a PPL about the same vintage as yours.
reply

Hi Noel, how did you find getting you PPL renewed again. What did you have to do. Im thinking of doing the same.
reply

Congratulations on getting your PPL back. Theres a great GA field you should try down south its called Heath Row =)
