Me again binge watching, honestly when I took my kids. I was so glad I done a test flight myself before taking them so I new I wouldnt freak out as you dont no how your gunna react an feel the first time. An I didnt fly till I was 30 Anyways my goal was to get them on board a plane as kids and start there joy of flying an of course taking them young there less likely to develope a phobia. Anyways the joy of seeing my 4 children excitement was incredible. They loved it. One was a little scared an sobbed quietly to himself but soon realised was nothing to be scared of and I will keep that forever with me of there little excited faces as we took of an there utter amazement of looking down on the world. Flying is just incredible and a feeling you will never understand if you havent done it.

I had a chance to fly on BA from ATL-LGW in August 1992 on an ex BCAL DC-10. I should've taken that rather than the usual Delta L1011-500. To think my last BA flight was way back in June 1982 from JFK-LHR on an RR-powered 747. Now I feel old. You mentioned the crew friendliness and I would agree. One stewardess comes to mind as she was all smiles from ZAG-LHR in August 1979. You tend to remember the nicest (and meanest) cabin crew throughout ones adventures.
I always felt like I was coming home when I'd arrive at JFK back from East Europe in the 70s and see Eastern Airlines. My family and I would always go from JFK-ATL-TLH.

Nice review, Noel. I'm glad you said that about their Business Class seats. The blue pods they had before weren't bad either. I used to fly them from US to Bangladesh, Pakistan, Africa. What I noticed about the crews is they were much nicer on the LHR to far away places than the US-UK routes. I blame my fellow Americans. The BA arrivals lounge at LHR (with showers, English breakfast, etc) was just awesome. The big downer is that they charge huge fees along with the Avios tickets, so these days I've moved my Avios to Qatar and saved thousands.

Hi Noel, BA here. We're happy to hear that you made it across the North Atlantic on our equivalent of the Tramp Steamer. It's old, we know but it is airtight and there is no electricity near to your seat for plugging anything into. Clearly there was s booking error for your flight and we will refund the 18, 000 Avios without delay. We'll give you and Rach a few days to recover from your ordeal then we'll talk sponsorship. BA has a special place in my heart because I was in NYC on a non-changeable ticket and got a call to say I should get home to see my father ASAP as he was dying. I called BA who said without hesitation well, we've got to get you home as soon as we can: you'll be on the next flight. Doing that meant I got back to spend a lovely day with him before he finally lost consciousness. I will never forget that, and whilst like every airline they get things wrong sometimes, when it mattered they delivered.

Totally agree with everything your saying Noel! Is it the perfect airline? No. Does it have have all the extravagance of the Middle Eastern 3? No. But the whole experience feels like home, and thats special after time spend in less than comfortable parts of the world.
Im not a mad anglophile by any stretch of the imagination; but I think any Brit feels warmed coming in on approach to Heathrow over central London when the captain says To our passengers who live here in the UK, welcome home!

Noel - thanks for the videos and I'm glad you had a good experience in Canada. I thought for sure you would have made it a point to stop by Hamilton and catch one of (maybe even the only) the flying Lancasters in the world. Considering your video on the Damn Busters experience, this would have been quite cool for you. We see it flying every once in a while and can only imagine in our minds a whole formation of Lancasters flying over England and the sound of the engines! Maybe next time. Cheers.

I have tried to be loyal to BA but most of their competitors products in business class are far superior e en against the new club world suites. I flew first class last month as a bucket list treat for my wife and I but wondered why we bothered. The crew were fantastic but the whole thing wasnt premium and definitely not compared to the new club suites. There are much better products and crews who are at least as good as BA, however I agree about seeing the livery and that feeling.

G-YMMA was the first RR powered 777 after the first batch were GE powered. G-YMMA was also the experimental aircraft to do flight testing (Sept 99) for the new Trent 895 engine - the most powerful commercial engine at the time. G-YMMA was not actually delivered with the Club flat beds - they didn't arrive until mid 2000 (I think the 5th delivery, G-YMME. The first 4 aircraft were retrofitted in Cardiff. I was part of the Flight Test team and the Entry Into Service team for RR.

I have spent time away from home at times in my life and I recognise the homesickness behind your affection for all things British, including BA.
Sadly though, years of under investment and relentless cost cutting have badly affected the airline and the service it provides. I realise you may have loads of avios to use and a gold card status to support, but BA today is a shadow of the business it was in the 80s and 90s when it led the world. Shame.

I've been flying on and off from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to London since the 1980s. And I've flown on BA on some of the flights. Unfortunately, although the service and planes are good, it is patchy and not consistent. I can definitely say that Singapore Airlines service and planes have consistently been better than BA over the past 40 years. And their airfare is almost similar to each other. Value for money, Singapore Airlines has been the airline to beat,

It was years ahead of other carriers and I recall asking BA's rivals why they did not have flat beds in business class and the usual reply was that there's no demand. But in aviation once one carrier launches a revolutionary product the others follow in due course. although in the case of premium economy it took many many years. (PE was introduced by VS and BR in the early 1990s.

BA is a good airline. But I feel their extreme cost cutting measures taken over the past 5-10 years have been a tragic own goal for the airline. They need to restore the values and quality that they espoused back in their glory days of the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. But sadly that may not happen due to the competitive European market. Still, most of my experiences with them have been nice, and I look forward to flying with them some day

My dad as a world traveler back then knew quality and had sorted out the the airlines to fly and not fly. B. O. A. C. was top of the heap. As an adolescent I'd fall in love with each and every FA. The CHARM! It's in the blood of B. A.

What annoys me is as you said BA did the first lie flat business class seat, but theyve fallen behind massively and havent kept up. Qatar owns 25% of IAG, why cant Qatar lend its seat designs, IFE systems and other bits to BA? It would certainly be within Qatars interest to help BA as they own a large share of it, BA really annoy me but I love flying with them just because of the service.

Personal preference and all but I pretty much avoid them by preference (hell I took TAM for GRU flights over their tatty 747 and poor crew. Although I will concede: T5 is nice and my preferred LHR terminal.

Awe. It's always fun to be away from home-but at the same time, it's always very nice when you arrive home after a holiday as well! I didn't miss home once when I went to Las Vegas on my own last year. However, I was stranded in Dallas Love Field airport for about 20 hours and I missed home then. But I was super glad to be back-and my dogs missed me as well.

Just which BA are you talking about? Its not one I recognize? I switched to KLM being my most used airline years ago in part due to BAs lack of customer service
Love the vlogs but when does your name influence the level of service you receive? Your recent trip to Romania seemed to show that better service was shown to you than the others?

Im flying with BA from Glasgow via Heathrow - Seattle Tacoma Airport in October. Im going to visit friends and its going to be my first visit to Seattle. I normally fly BA from Edinburgh via LHR - SFO and go economy but this time Im going First Class when I go to Seattle. I do most of my flying with BA and the cabin crew are always amazing.
