J. Broz Tito did not succeed in anything, he just had a bit of luck balancing between superpowers of the time - he created the second Yugoslavia on terror, all sorts of violations of human and citizen rights, and suppression of Serbs as the biggest and most important nation in it. The state was rotten and exploded like a time bomb just a decade after his death in 1980.
There was another element in the civil wars in the 90s - external. The Vatican long term policy and the long term policy and politics of the West to suffocate and punish the Serbs as Russia-oriented people.

No, Rick. They do not have the same ancestors- unless by your logic you can say that British and Swiss have the same ancestors. Sorry, pls dont gloss over this important fact. People are very cognizant of their history and ethnicity. You cant look at it through your American lens of racism/ discrimination. Thats the TLDR, obv. I could go into more detail. But the same ancestors will not get you a warm reception- and btw Yugoslavia only existed for 70, years- if it lasted longer then maybe they wouldve fused together more.

Total misconception about Tito unifying the country and holding it together. Please dont use a foreigner to explain Yugoslavia. What held Yugoslavia together was the structure of the Cold War politics. The country was never more divided than under Tito. It split along ethnic lines where the major ethnicities came to the position to separate, which they did as soon as the Cold War was over and which lead to the violent breakup of the country.

I live here, it's a beautiful country with huge resources. Unfortunately the people here are awful, eneducated, corrupt and very xenophobic. There is going to be war again, the hate is everywhere. You will see it probably in the comments too.
