As per your request a few things I like and dislike about videos. Lets start with the worst:
Dislike:
- Overly amplified pouring of liquid (probably only applies to me, but makes me livid)
- Unexpected and awkwardly long non-topic scenes, e. g. when you cut yourself off from talking with the edit and throw in a really long landscape shot (extremely rare, nothing to worry about)
- Hunting (again, a taste thing)
- World War stuff
- Car stuff
Like:
- Hedge laying and similar wood management techniques
- Gear review/comparison
- Colaborations like the Alec Steele, the marine and toilet hut guy
- Building buildings (you know, to combat rising house prices)
For the oppinionated and enraged reader, please rmember that these are my personal preferences. These don't and won't invalidate your own. I'm a peculiar individual and aware of that.
Also I don't mind you (TA Outdoors) NOT showing your kids on camera. I don't know what to do with them, frankly, as I have no interest in their antics and would skip the sections with them appearing. No offense. But I appreciate you leaving the choice to appear on camera to them, since I feel the oppinions and needs of children often is ignored in favor of some parental ideology.
All in all, I have to thank you for your videos. I now have a garden of my own and recently got some hazel cuts (up to 4m long) from my neighbour and with the knowledge from your videos I already have some projects in mind. Lots of fun to be had there.

I like to see people out doing exactly what they want so just go about your normal business mate. I look at tips and tricks I just gave northern outdoors a follow and looking to get something from him. Your hunting vidio shooting the nests for the control was interesting. But mainly why I watch is because I spend a lot of time outdoors myself around Europe I did a couple long trip camps this year 1 20day outside in Spain and a 4 week through the alps and around Italy not a single hotel or hostel or site only wild camping. Many small camps also but what I m getting at is even though I have a lot of motivation and camp out a lot it s easy to get sluggish in the winter months and end up in the pub watching football instead haha I m always wanting to get out but seem to fall into the pub or something haha so I watch these vidios and makes me think right I m going out. I m going out this weekend in the forrest for a couple nights in Germany (I m a geordie living in Germany ) for sure I ll be out been full of flue the last week, indoors looking at vidios. sick of inside and watched some outdoors so that s what I get some extra push to get out myself. Inspiration ya could say. Interesting 1 pots people make in the billy pot always catch my eye as well what to make for dinner think I m going to whip up an Irish stew this weekend. Let s see a creative 1 pot from ya but just go about ya normal business pal doing what you want were just here for the ride

I love Jacks in his new gear! He really seems to be fine with it. His reaction was so funny when you pulled his kibble out of his gear! Woah, where did that come from!
I completely agree with your sentiments about respecting your family s privacy. When you choose to show snippets, or if your wife and children appear more frequently, we ll know that it s because you re all okay with it.
I ve commented in the past about your content choices. I truly appreciate your varied interests and always see you as a teacher sharing your knowledge and experiences. I ve fished but never hunted, though I helped a neighbor clean some chickens when it came time for slaughter. I haven t had the opportunity since, but I was interested in doing it myself because I do eat meat and know many vegetarians who believe one wouldn t eat meat if they had to do their own butchering. I was okay with it. As for your last video hunting, I found myself glad not to see the butchering, but some folks might want to? It s all a simple matter as far as I m concerned, you do whatever strikes your fancy and if I m not interested, I won t watch. So far, I ve enjoyed all your content and I love the variety as well as your passion in what you do. The builds with your dad, tent and van camping, woodland business, historical adventures, the car rebuild, all good stuff!
Enjoy, Mike and happy Christmas season to you and yours.

I don't blame you at all for not featuring your family especially your children in your videos. There's some Incredibly sick people out there Wouldn't hesitate to your kids and do God knows what with them. likewise I wouldn't even chill the inside of your house On video. There is an American in Florida who has a home where he has valuable threatened Turtles tortoises and lizards on his property and two years ago someone broke in and stole two of his lizards Young lizards One of which had a kink tail so they threw it away outside of his house outside of his home yard area The other one was refound fairly quickly and brought back to his camp and the other one was by a miracle found during a cold snap which caused permanent damage to it And unfortunately he had to euthanize it a couple of months later 'cause it was just it just couldn't function it was having a nerve problems so people will steal anything that is not nailed down and that they can pry loose. I said rare animals I mean like endangered species animals that he has been entrusted by various different zoos other government organizations and private collectors to help keep these animal species alive. So Mike You do what you have to do to protect your family your property your friends your animals.

22: 03 Hey man, I know that now days you kinda have to judge your audience pretty carefully or risk losing a lot of them, but I just want to say first and foremost always make sure you're filming what you want to film. I know there's always a back of your mind thought that you have to make something they want to see, but always remember, most of the time, we are looking forward to and wondering what you have next. So film. What you want and the audience will come. That means if you want to show anything about your family, go ahead I for one, would love to see it. If not, that's fine too. I understand the desire for not only privacy but also wanting to make sure that time with family is genuine and focused only on family. It's very respectable. Also, the same goes for the hunting videos. Yes, not everyone shares your values, but if they truly do like your content but don't agree with that one thing, there's nothing forcing them to watch that video. Sure, you might lose a couple of people, but if you stay respectful and strong in your values, I don't think there's much reason for anything to fail or change too much.

1. Regarding your family being in videos, I can't understand why anyone would be upset about you not showing them. That's your private life, we're not entitled to seeing that.
2. Regarding content. I can't speak for everyone but from my perspective, I buy into your personality and lifestyle and just want more of what you enjoy/do. I know that's not super helpful so I'll say that, when you pack up I feel a little sad that it was just one night. Perhaps some multi-night stays and establishing more of a camp?
3. Regarding hunting. I'm a vegetarian for ethical and environmental reasons. But hunting wild animals as part of wildlife management and using the whole animal is something I can absolutely get behind. If I had the opportunity to do it myself I would.
4. I love Jacks, especially in his new harness, he's very sweet and I'm glad you have such a loyal companion for your nights in the woods.

Thanks for posting this video and everything else you produce. I like seeing the evolution of your type of camping, the Polish lavou videos, gear reviews, camping meals and meal making, and the woodland management stuff. The hunting is cool too. I really appreciate how you show the little things that a product or process can help make things easier when out there, like the recent video you did showing the sliding hooks for the tarp or the modified lavou. I would like to see you plan more camping trips with activities like hunting, precision shooting maybe, hiking, kayaking there s a place you can go etc. Keep up the great work!

Personally I'm not much for hunting But, that said, Greek squirrels are an invasive species in the UK. They are driving out the native red squirrel population Insanely. In the US We have both gray and red squirrels mostly the red squirrels in the boreal forests from Massachusetts northward into Canada. down south in the US, graysquirrel is good eaten and good hunting. So that said being an invasive species in the UK, you wanna take them out as much as possible you wanna eradicate the species in the UK they're not danger in the US in any way shape or form at this time So go for it.

I enjoy the hunting camping of all sorts as well as fishing thats all stuff I can do here in Alberta, Canada. But I do not have the ability or land to build shelters like your Viking long house and the others. Very much enjoyed watching you build all of them. I suppose I could explore some crown land in the mountians thats not very well traveled and try to build a semi perminant shelter similar to the ones you've built. But sadly it'd likely end up found by a grizzly or mountian lion and turned into their new home hahaa that or destroyed by one or the other.

As someone trying to get more into this sort of thing I'd be interested to hear an explainer about navigating some of the issues involved.
For example, how do you go about finding somewhere to camp, since doing so on public land is illegal?
I'd also be interested to hear the same sort of thing about hunting, we have a shooting club in my area but our county police won't issue as a policy which leaves many of us limited to regulated air rifle. Especially as this is getting worse with recent nationwide crack-downs on law-abiding gun owners.

Mike your films are always fun to watch, loved the pallet wood stuff your dad and fishing ones, jacks makes the films a bit more special his little personality is great. As for the children well their privacy is important but to here news of them is nice let them grow up a bit and decide if they want to be involved. It is great to see your woodland and the various tents you use and that old wagon you are going to fix up should be fun. Your old air raid shelter was good just keep doing what you do it is all very good.

I have a 100 lb. dog Bernese Mountain dog, and she carries all her own gear, I got her a light quilt that is washable and she loves it. she knows when the packs come out we are going to the woods. Her sisters are the same way. We cannot even bring out the gear to clean it without getting the LOOK. they will follow us for days not to get left out of the fun. First thing I noticed was Jax gear and how proud he was to wear it, did not slow him down a bit, needs a sweater and a puffy jacket for the winter, that will be next.

I watch because I can not do. I've learned a great deal and have enjoyed all I've seen. I totally agree with not pushing your children in front of the camera. As to content. I would love to see how the Viking house is holding up, and the Saxon house. Mostly though I think an episode or two on general maintenance and care of your equipment would be interesting. I've never been able to be the outdoors type but I do know a great deal of effort goes into it. Be well and enjoy the holidays.

I enjoy both camping and hunting videos you make. My dad was a hunter and I loved being out with him as he taught me archery when I was a child, and while I, myself, am not a hunter, I still enjoy the sport through outdoorsmen like yourself. Love seeing your interaction with Jax. You can tell you are buddies and his antics just make me laugh out loud! Keep those videos coming and whether you choose to film your family or not is totally your right as their father.

Kids and cameras: Thank you! I used to watch a YT'er that forced his kids to be on camera. Their tantrums, meltdowns, illnesses, mess ups, embarrassments, puberty, all of it. There's one particularly quiet young man in the family and I could just see the pain in his eyes and I know the day he turns 18 he's GONE! What a sad life he's being forced to live. So thank you for asking and giving your kids the choice to be on camera or not.

RE: Putting the kids in front of the camera.
IMHO, that was already bad enough when family did that privately. It's orders of magnitude worse, when its done in a public facing sphere. So it is very commendable, that you're not doing that.
Once they can fully comprehend what it means to be part of these videos and want to participate on their own volition, then that's a different story.

I like the little tent stove, which I think is unique, but how do you keep the CO from escaping into your tent interior from your stove pipe since it is essentially a piece of sheet metal that you form in a column? Does it seal when you form it? I do enjoy your content on your videos as I also do your Dad s videos and look forward to a new video from each of you weekly. Thanks!
