One unique house I have never forgotten featured in the first, maybe second, season of Grand Designs and it was built by and for someone living in a forest managing the forest [with conditions that when he left his job the house had to basically disappear back into nature]. It was a truly wonderful build and when he married and had children the extension was equally beautifully designed, built and blended perfectly into the woodlands around it. Am really looking forward to the mini series and now think I'm going hunting for the Grand Designs house as well.

This is cool, and probably a really good idea for your main series. You should be able to get a lot of ideas on how to do things in your woodland and you'll see that there isn't just one way or really any 'correct' way of building. You could make something that's still structurally sound yet completely unique and speaks to your own unique character, likes, dislikes, and tendencies. If you can take in all of these things and be able to reproduce them, I think your builds will get even more interesting than they already are. Cheers, mate!

All in on this series idea. You especially can respect the unique craft, skill and art.
Also something you can take the family along on and share family 'glamping' experiences across the uk. And supporting local farmers and homesteads!
Beautiful, brilliant, bless it!
Go fund me crazy locations and trips we want to see perhaps
Well, next trip to the UK will definitely have some new destination ideas available that I can sell my wife on

It feels like it wasn't too long ago that I watched the Sampson Boat Co folks add the. I think it was cotton caulk between the deck planks of Tally Ho! I don't know how functional that rope is between the floor boards, but I believe the point of it on a ship is to allow the decking to swell and shrink as it gets wet and dries out over time while maintaining a water-tight deck.

As a carpenter i can tell you there is a hell of a lot of work/cuts gone in to that little building, the carpenter must have lived over the chop saw & each cut would have been a different measurement because of the irregularity of each of the rafters & the rope in the floor would be to fill the expansion gaps, but what a stunning structure, chapeau to the carpenters.

I will enjoy seeing different type rustic accommodations available in Britain to compare to what similar cabins I know to be available in the US. At least I took from your video that you will be visiting different cabins. If so, keep them coming! A lot of expertise went into building the hobbit house. Congrats to the builders. Thanks.

You don’t even know what cold is. It’s -14 degrees Fahrenheit here were I am and I still manage to do all the outdoor activities and animal chores and this isn’t even cold yet will probably get down to -2030 degrees Fahrenheit this next week I don’t think you could handle it from what I’ve seen on your show

Mike this was awesome! I’m so excited to see the series of these. This cottage and the craftsmanship is so incredible. I love unique, quirky, whimsical places like these. I’ve always been fascinated by the few that I have been able to see. Thanks so much for coming up with this idea and going with it.

I'm actually pretty interested in seeing the old school structures that exist around the UK and learning about the techniques used to build them. I think it''ll make a good series and I know it'll be a good change for you after years of camping in the wild in shelters you built yourself.

What a perfectly charming little hide-away for 2! Jaxx seemed to like it and the surrounding area is an awesome view. Well done video, as always. Take care and stay well and thanks for bringing us along on your adventure. Looking forward to more of the same in your series. : )

Mike.
Good idea for a series of videos, it'll be interesting to see what you can find.
As for what dogs can eat, my granddad used to make a roast dinner with gravy for his dogs every Sunday, they enjoyed it and never had any issues.

Your stew looks better than the one we had last nigh. Lovely meat but when putting in some herbs the lid came off the pot. Two rinses later and 2 changes of water but still all you could taste was mixed herbs. Interesting shall we say.

Please switch off this automatic audio synchronisation! It's - horrible! I want to hear you in your language, not in a so bad german translation. One of the worst things, YT has ever done.

That looks like a wonderful shelter. The only thing that I would change is I would have used rustic square head lag screws on the door hinges. Just a personal preference. The builder is obviously very talented.

Some commentors are going to remark, sooner or later, that hobbits are not in our ancestral history. They are wrong of course.
You have hit upon a cool and superbly entertaining idea with this cabin tour.

Jaxx' expression at his kibble, after tasting your stew, was precious. I love this new series! Especially your examination of the construction and woods used, history, etc. You are in your element!
