I don't really buy it. You disguise his voice and blur his face because he messaged you after you got out? If he ditched you, you owe him nothing, even if it made the video more interesting. If he'd taken you in but not very far and then ditched you he'd just have been a dick, but taking you that deep and leaving you there? That's kind of attempted murder in a way. Not impossible to get out but difficult, especially if you were unprepared, like the lost Londoners.
I dunno, I can fully believe people offering to be a guide and then ditching people, but I can't quite believe that you'd still protect him afterwards, which leads me to believe that that aspect of the video is set up and he wasn't far behind or in front. After all, you're not filming as much and can just cut him out in the edit if you accidentally film him on the way out.
I'll gladly listen to the podcast or watch any follow up video on it for more info, but that's my theory on it. Call me a sceptic if you want, but everyone likes a 'lost in the catacombs' story to tell, and I don't think that text at the end is enough to protect someone if they literally left you to die.

There s three things I get from this. 1. Steve did it just for fun and as a joke. 2. Everyone or just Elton was in on it because at some points you see another light making it 5 lights instead of the 4(also could ve been Steve following them) but it was right in front of them and pretty noticeable. 3. Steve was going to rob you guys. If you couldn t make it out in time and decided to camp it out and try again he would ve robbed tf out of you because he wanted his identity anonymous and it was only 100. Which I mean is pretty cheap for guiding people illegally. That s just my take on it though. Btw literally 95% of Europeans speak English. Especially the younger generations. Those French people you came by just didn t want to help you lol. I live in Germany, the only people I come across that can t speak English is the older people.

if you watch behind corey at 1: 18: 15 you can see there's another light moving. ginger and chaz are on the other side of elton, so there was someone else with them. elton is a smart and just guy and I find it extremely hard to believe that if a guide had actually left american tourists 15 miles deep into the paris catacombs, there's no way on earth he wouldn't expose the man to ensure it never happens again. also, highly doubt he would trust a guide to take them that many miles for only 100? I would think something like that with that many risks/miles/hours would easily be over 500 minimum. was a great video, but seems pretty unlikely that it wasn't a prank of some sort.

READ THIS EXPOSING STEVE: okay, when they were about to go Into the tunnel they forgot to warp Steves voice he only said two words but you can tell that he's British, I also know he's British because of the way that he started off some of his sentences, for all my brits out there if you watch it again you will be able to tell, I also know this because blues clues isn't a giant tv show in England and when Steve had 'left' they said he probably doesn't even know what blues clues is and they are correct. he has a bald patch on his head so I'm guessing he's around middle age.

I love that elton is trying to keep the vibes up with singing, but if I was there, I'd be just as pissed as corey and would want to find out a legit reason why he left them. I also can't believe they didn't out him unless he threatened them or possibly gave them a different name than his. They still could've shown his face. Another tiny part of my self is like, it's just another prank, the guides in on it and elton actually knows the way out but I don't think thats the case this time.

Not to ruin the video but Steve didn t disappear when they went to get a thumbnail he sat round the corner and followed them out that explains the screenshots and everything cause let s really be honest they have never been there and if there guide went missing they aren t getting out it s literally the whole of Paris and they where 5-6 hours deep so they would have never got out without a guide but without ruining the video he was with them the whole time guiding them out

Why did he just leave did you ever ask why? If so what was the reason? You guys got so lucky with that if you hadn't of filmed the corners you guys would of been lost or even worse dead. When i saw the video title I was actually praying and I never pray it is a very rare thing for me to do that is how much I care.
