CHICAGO: Soaking Up The City's Energy On The Riverwalk I was born in Texas, grew up in the suburbs and went to Loyola in Chicago and lived there until 2020. I had a girlfriend back in the day that lived in the Corn Cobb and her apartment was great. I also taught Golf for 17 years at Diversey Driving Range and had a guy who had recently bought a condo in Trump Towers and loved it. He gave me a $100 tick to give his wife a 15 minute tip. However, she was actually better than him. LOL. Regarding people falling into the water, It happened a few months ago, and happens several times per year usually after midnght. \r
Lastly, the HOLE (400 N. Lakeshore Drive, was a 2k square foot project called Chicago Spire. They dug 70 feet deep and poured $50 million into it before ’they’ ran out of funding. With that said, they are creating something called a Sister Tower, whateer that is. TBD.
With the above said, most of Chicago is a city of Neighborhoods, and is the most diverse in the Country. It reminds me of Toronto a lot. Wrigleyville, Oilsen, Rogers Park, Lincoln Park and talking about Blues! While it did start in Chicago, he was spread around the world from here and Buddy Guys’ Legends is a great place to go. Don’t forget about Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Doxon and many more that recorded at Aligator Records. Jazz is also very popular in Chicago.

Chicago is my hometown. Please go back soon for a longer visit. Some pointers for you and the viewers. Politics aside - at the 12: 14 mark the view of the Trump building. On the 16th floor right above the huge sign is the most amazing bar with an enormous outdoor patio. It is absolutely the best place to see any city at night. Yeah drinks are $20 but you are paying for the table and the view. You sit outside on the 16th floor surrounded by the tall buildings and city lights. Not through glass. You are sitting outside.
Also check out North Michigan Ave the shops and the water tower that survived the 1871 Great Chicago fire. Oak street beach - Burnham harbor. North of downtown the entire shoreline is walkable.
Northside - Lincoln Ave - Clark Street - Halsted & Wrigleyville great bars and restaurants. Of course deep dish pizza - Due's or Lou Malanati's.
Argh - I wish I knew you were going. So much more to see and do. The river walk is good but nowhere near the highlight.
Love your videos. Haven't commented for a bit but continuing to watch.

In Chicago! This is a Chicago goddess! This is the best you are going to get around here.
Are you serious There aren't goodlooking people around here
What! She is a goddess to me!
Me too!
Can we just go home then! starts to cry It was more drawn out than this. I hadn't seen anyone attractive there and they were all telling me this was the best looking woman available or even around the city.
We all went out together in the day and I started finding some right away. They all refused to let me go and hit on them. I was on a mission though so they started setting up tricks for me to hit on.
All the ones they setup for me were their versions of Chicago goddesses so I never ended up hitting on anyone.

The amazing looking building that’s unique at 9: 07 is called St Regis Chicago, formerly Wanda Vista Tower. It is the 3rd tallest building in Chicago, behind Willis Tower (better known as/formerly Sears Tower) which is the tallest and Trump International Hotel and Tower which is the 2nd tallest building in Chicago. The St Regis Chicago building is the tallest structure in the world designed by a woman. The architect’s name is Jeanne Gang. She also designed the Aqua building (at timestamp 4: 07) which initially had the record of tallest structure designed by a woman until St Regis Chicago finished construction in 2020.

Also, next time you’re in Chicago you gotta try Vito and Nicks pizza on the southside. Food network voted it best pizza in America years ago. It’s thin crust only. Small brick building with a dingy bar inside. It’s been there over a hundred years and there’s only small signs in the window. Best way to spot it is by the Italian colored awning running across the front of the building. It’s cash only but it’s sooooooooo good I don’t wanna give away too much but the kitchen is out in the open and the chefs do some cool tricks I’ll leave it at that

14: 03 is where developers had planned on building a 2, 000 ft building which would have been the tallest building in the U. S. if not the world. The 2008 recession is the only reason the building did not get built. The city has been wanting to put something there ever since but it would likely have to be a large skyscraper over 70 stories. The hole is a reminder to the Chicagoans who wanted the building of what could have been if the recession had not happened or if it had happened a year later.

You walked right past the plaque marking the Eastland disaster along the Chicago River: SS Eastland was a passenger ship based in Chicago and used for tours. On 24 July 1915, the ship rolled over onto its side while tied to a dock in the Chicago River. A total of 844 passengers and crew were killed in what was the largest loss of life from a single shipwreck on the Great Lakes.

Chicago is great. I've spent some time exploring Chicago and for all its reputation, I've never had any problems but just like anywhere else, there are places you go to and others you avoid. I would be happy to live there spring to fall but winter might be a little tough. You were correct that the hole is the foundation for The Spire.

I spent the first 39 years of my life in the Chicagoland area. I worked in the city for several years. Man, do I miss the FOOD! Lucky for me I'm a gourmet cook, so I can duplicate about any food from there. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago---a long time ago. The cobb building is Marina City. It was built in the 1960's.

While you were going down lake shore drive you should have put the song on Lakeshore drive. that would have been really cool. Chicago downtown is beautiful but expensive well worth it for a day out by Navy Pier. Or just strolling down by the lake
Hope you all had a good time! Don't forget to try the pizza we make the best!

Chicago is crazy overrated imo. Honestly the only city in the ENTIRE WORLD that I've ever visited and not liked. Especially the people. Most snobby, elitist natives I've met anywhere. In terms of the Big 3 cities, New Yorkers and Angelino's are a million times cooler.
reply

You missed the beautiful white Wrigley building right near Trump tower. If you went south of Navy Pier buy Grant Park you would have been right by the water, You could walk south from there to the museum complex out to the Planetarium get great vies of the skyline.
reply

We parked downtown for 1 hour. It cost $14. Just BS looking at the Pier and a little of Lake Michigan. Will not go back. My Sister in Law pays $300 a month to park her car in front of the apartment she rents. I did not ask her how much her rent is.

I'm loving ur choices of intro music, Chicago is one of my favorite City's, I actually like it better then NYC. Cool shots of the river area and remarkable skyline at sunset and early evening. Y'all done good. thanks for the walk along!
reply

Hope you will come back and show the neighborhoods; some of the worst, as well as the best. I was looking forward to this video, since I lived in the Chicago area for over 50 years, but unlike the ot HH er videos, you showed onlythe good!
reply

Grant Park was all marshland before the Chicago Fire. After it happened, city debris was thrown in and covered. Now it's a beautiful Grant Park. That hole was for the Spire Building. You were Right!
reply

Fun Fact: Marina City aka the Corn Cob towers were the first buildings in the world to use fiberglass concrete forms which are still the standard commercial form material to this day.
reply

The movies doesn't properly convey the size of Chicago (or New York City, that's for sure.
I'm sure Chicago is a nice place to visit, but like many places, I would not want to live there.

reply

Well, you’ve shown me lots of reasons NOT to visit Chicago! Loads of roads - some bad, loads of buildings - some tall and some waterfronts - some seedy. Now why should I visit Chicago
reply

You talk about having time constraints but why is that Just curious. This is all fascinating. I asked my husband if we could sell our house and live on the road. He said nope.
reply

What a interesting city Chicago is, it has so many faces. I’d like to go back in the next few years. I want to see the museums. Great video by the way, really great views of downtown.

As a Chicagoland suburbanite Summertime in Chicago can be amazing. The weather is wonderful. Food is amazing and so much to do. When winter comes I wonder why I live there lol.
reply

The Chicago River used to drain into Lake Michigan. They reversed the flow to drain into the Illinois River to reduce pollution in the lake. Considered an engineering marvel.
reply

Maybe the prettiest city in USA, along with SF, but both completely ruined now due to crime. Totally unlivable! So sad. They used to be so wonderful!
reply

You were right about that hole in the ground. My home city looks so vibrant in this video, you can't even tell it's losing population.
reply

criminal underground LOL, they're everywhere. You should have filmed all the closed stores on Michigan and State streets.
reply

What a beautiful, modern city and that canal gives it a open airy feeling, something a city like NYC doesn't have!
reply

Glad you enjoyed the city. There is so much more to do and see. When you come back I’d be glad to help show you around.
reply

Visually it's a spectacular city! Shame it's controlled and run by imbeciles. Just imagine what it could be.
reply

However much time you spend in Chicago, you need twice as much. I am up to a week. I was born there, btw.
