ST GEORGE, UTAH: One Of The USA's Fastest Growing Cities The Mormon City Nearly half of the city isnt even Mormon today as people from all over, especially California have steady been moving in for quite some time. That wouldve been a more appropriate title for Provo, Utah if anything. I mean St George isnt exactly a melting pot of color, religion and vibrant culture, but its certainly a lot more than just the LDS temple, Tabernacle and Brigham Young home! Way too much emphasis on Mormonism. Seriously yall didnt even tour the city at all, just a tiny few block section of old town. With all the growth and incredible diversity in architecture of homes and neighborhoods throughout the area - a drone shot wouldve been awesome showing more of the scenery and just how much the city sprawls beyond the mesas. We didnt even get your famous local hotel review of where you stayed. or gas prices.
We all know you love historic theaters yet didnt even glance at the historic Electric Theater that was literally right next door to the Dixie Photo shop you visted on Tabernacle Street; historic Ancestor Square, Green Gate Village with the many old relics from the old pioneer courthouse to the old rock jail house, statues and murals downtown, fast-growing Utah Tech University - so much left out yet were all just blocks apart. While an actual downtown district and nightlife are slow to come up, we have a few cool bars and pubs, you wouldve love to grab a Guinness at The Hive or Station 2 - an old firehouse transformed into a pub and brewery on Main. Idk, for supposedly knowing the town and having been here several times before, I just expected a lot more, sadly didnt do St George justice, my friend. Oh well, still cool you guys toured through and hopefully youll be back for more another time. Safe travels

Thank you Joe, great video. I learned things i didn't know abs i have lived in st george since 2012 and the growth since 2005 had been very dramatic. As for being cool at night only in the winter I the summer it is over 100 degrees during the day and 80 to 90 at night. Judds is one of the first places I photographed in st george when we moved here. Wow when did they put the sculpture garden sign There have been sculptures there as long as I remember but didn't ever see a sign. Most really have been a long time since I have been downtown cause I have never seen the veterans memorial. Yeah that cannon hasn't been out any of the times I have been through the visitors center. As far as the median home values. The cost of rent or mortgages have pretty much doubled since we moved here in 2012, with the bulk of it being since 2019/20 when a huge migraine of people moved here from California and pushed the prices of homes up after selling their homes in California. We pay more than double what we paid when we first moved here. Going from 750 a month to 1500. With $400 of that increase being the last 2 and 1/2 years.

Please be Advised living in Saint George is for the rich the Realtors Builders and Developers are building cheap houses kicking people out of there apartments when they raise the rent. The Business people in Saint George care about 3 things ME-MYSELF-and I. They want more cars and bigger houses They BUILD BIGGER HOUSES for Californians and leave the people who lived here all are lives in the Dust. WHY-THEY DONT CARE The Realtors-Builders and Developers of Saint George would kick there grandparents out for a $

Dear Sir. First, I love to watch Your video's. I'am from Mississippi. But the way You descibe it it May be a poor State. But the people live with in there means. some draw SS because of age or disabilty. Some are retiered an draw hefty checks an choose to live in the the House. may passed down. But most of the houses You show are to the point of falling in or burnt an no one has lived there for Year's. Not a reflection on the town. most of the properties are abandon. it's not a sighn of dispairity.

Incase anyone is wondering, the big 'D' on the mesa stands for Dixie, the city's nickname (Utah's) Dixie. By the way, on the other side of the mesa spans an area larger than downtown made up of mostly residential neighborhoods. Many of you probably thought the whole town was in view from the Cliffside Restaurant where they were eating, but that was just downtown or central St George. It's unfortunate they didn't tour more of the city's incredible homes and neighborhoods

You could've taken a free tour inside that temple as it just had a 3 year rennovation and is open to the public for a short time. This is my hometown. My mom has lived just down from that temple since 1934. Now there's another brand new temple opening this December out in Little Valley which is not in view. If you want to see some huge million dollar homes that's where the pretty people live. Too many people have moved here, it's ruined now. Lots of crime happening.

Well another great video. You guys sure come up with some great places to visit. One question though, in the opening scenes the was a large white D on the side the escarpment. Any clues as to why or what it represents Thanks again for the great videos, I also enjoyed the previous one on Hildale, Utah & Colorado City, Arizona. Stay safe.

Another great history lesson and very beautiful scenery to places I will never get to and I thank you so very much for all the research that you have to do to make your trip complete. I Thank you more than you will ever know for sharing your travels with all.

Hiya, Joe! Please close the gaps between scenes; it feels like a power cut every time it happens. Also, a little more time in shops and restaurants would make these destinations a little more attractive than just statistics and capitol buildings.

We are finally getting to do a road trip we had planned back in March but, we had so much going on, we could not leave till, next month, heading up to Asheville NC area, then VA, and WV. So we are looking forward to that little road trip.

Nice to see a city without a bunch of homeless dope addicts camped on the sidewalk. The West Coast cities need to study this model. This city is a very near downwinder of the Nevada Nuclear Test Site so bring your Geiger counter!

Finally watching this while multi-tasking so no running commentary this time. Utah is a strange place though! OK, had to add: My God! That meal would have lasted me 3 or 4 days! The appetizer would have been enough for me!

Civil War was coming so they figured cotton would not be available. They grew cotton but after the war Texas could deliver a bail to city hall cheaper than local farmers ( originally from Dixie) could. Hence the name.

With some of the things you say you want to put in your man cave, I've determined that your man cave, being in Texas, must be Fern Cave. Anything else would be too small for those signs you want to hang in your man cave.

I live a few miles from Hurricane. We moved from Oregon to St. George area year and half ago. Can’t stand it. Traffic is awful, bad drivers, too many tourists, weird layout and too hot. Can’t wait to get outta here.

Joe-- since you mentioned it in this video, how about Nauvoo, Illinois Next time on your travels in that area You might check it out -- sort of like a Centralia, without the smoking ground. Thanks. Ken, from N. Y. C.

I grew up in Hurrican and hatted it. Now I'm in my early 40s and living in the Phx area. Id give anything to be able to move back to St. George or Hurrican, it's just so expensive now and not a lot of job options.

I got so excited for this one as my friend lives in St George. We were flying over from the U. K. to visit but a family death stopped the trip. It sure looks lovely. Thanks for showing us Joey.

I just spent the last weekend in St. George playing golf at sand hollow and copper rock, it was still 92 degrees so a little warm for me but a great time and location for golf. Fun to see this.

Nice place, but with a dark history (close to Nevada Test Site, suffered greatly from radioactive fallout after 1951. I love to watch Your content, keep up the good work: -)

I live 40 miles from St. George in Nevada. It's a great town for shopping, medical care, and restaurants. Unfortunately, its population is outgrowing the water supply.

Joe, if you and Nicole plan on going to Colorado you need to put Leadville on your itinerary. At 10, 158 feet it is the highest incorporated city in the country.

I have family that live in Mesquite, Nevada and Saint George is not that far. We took a little trip out there and we loved the scenery. Hello from El Paso Texas.

St. George is gorgeous! I love the mountains and homes. Enjoyed the history of the temple. The general store and restaurant looked amazing! Looking forward to Nevada!

Thank you, GMTA, and the poor are forgotten. Entertaining heavily, to start a Coalition for the Homeless, and those on the brink of homelessness.

I was there with my family on the way home from Nebraska in 1952. All I remember is the service station where we got the car fixed.

Isn't St. George Utah the area highly radioactive because of the atomic fallout because of the atomic bomb tests in the 1950's

Utah is a beautiful state. I have driven through but didn't stay at all. Thank you for sharing and have a great day and safe travels

I lived in utah for a while and its the weirdest place in the country. Idk how ppl can still be Mormon, its the most absurd thing.
reply

Very cool city, but why is it so prosperous Is it because like you said 'a jumping off point' for many US destinations
reply

Sorry, Comment 2. If you Visited right now you can walk through the temple for the open house. When it gets dedicated you cant.
reply

The reason the streets were made extra wide is because they wanted them wide enough for a team and wagon to turn around.
