IDAHO: Is This The USA's Most Boring City What We Saw In Pocatello The first vacuum cleaner shown (circa 1901) likely was not privately owned but carted about by a sales service person whod run the tube into the home and do the cleaning for the customer. The apparatus was too big to take into the house.
The second one shown (circa 1906) showed a major technological advancement in reduced size so that it could be kept by a private homeowner, perhaps in a carriage house or a shed.
Despite the large rooftop sign, the Yellowstone Hotel may no longer be such, although its upper floors surely seem in use and must be because the buildings owner would not be able to financially maintain the building solely from the rent of the ground floor restaurant.
If it were still active, Pocadello would be yet another distant U. S. city in which I could suppose myself spending several pleasant days.

USA's most boring city That doesn't sound very inspiring but I'm really nosey so let's do it! The Buster Brown slogan was exceptionally corny though! Wait! Do I see a vinyl record store 3: 12 I like Pocatello already - this could prove to be a very hip city! Great mural! Bizarre and wacky museum! I could very easily live there! This is making me hungrier than usual - ready to see the menu - I'll also start with the Dynamite Shrimp then move on to the Yellowstone Bison Burger with the works. Ending with a scoop of ice cream for a light dessert! Thanks for picking up the tab! Two burps and a quiet fart and I'm good to go - to sleep!

I bet it’s the college kids at the University who think this town is boring. Back in the day my fellow college students and I used to complain constantly about how boring our little college town was. Of course 30 years plus later all I remember were the fun times I had in college and you forget that most Friday nights we were desperately looking in vain for a fun party or something exciting to do.

Boring is in the mind of the beholder.
I have visited many tiny and small towns in many areas and there
is always something interesting or someone who did something interesting.
Stop in a small restaurant at first light for breakfast, sit down and chat with the people.
You would be amazed how nice these places are as seen
through their eyes!
Cheers,
Rik Spector

The Railroad is the Union Pacific and Pocatello is a major division point and yards--and a very nice train station. It was built in the 1880s as a branch of UP's transcontinental mainline connecting Wyoming to Oregon and Butte, MT.
Legend has it that the local Indian chief liked pork and tallow the settlers brought in, so his nickname was Pork'n'tallow.

I've never been to the States and I enjoy watching these videos exploring small American towns and cities. There's just one thing I don't understand: where are all the people Even in the centre of substantial towns like Pocatello it seems you can drive or walk around and not see a single person walking along the streets. How is that

The statistics about race reminded me of a place and time when I was in middle school and it was like I took the PSAT in 8th grade and the local university said that was good enough I was admitted practically but later some people tried to tell me they were Hispanic and I didn't understand

Pocatello High School 9: 26 YES What a beautiful building!
I had a chance 2 visit Idaho & stopped and stayed in Wallace, Twin Falls, & Boise. Fortunately the Boise River Festival was going on while there. Had not stopped or remember passing through Pocatello & now wish I did

Hi Joe. I love your videos. Its interesting to see true America. I also love the history aspect of it. Years from now these towns will look different and we will have videos like yours to reference them. I was just wondering, what kind of camera do you use

I am not from Pocatello but it is my favorite town after moving a lot then going in to the service. I love all the hiking, I think it's much prettier outside of down town. After living near Chicago and on the east coast the winters don't feel that bad.

Thats very beautiful high school. love the town. sign me up too. Im old man anyway. looks like a very nice quite place to live. Crime low. If i wasnt old would like to live there, also can take cold better than hot weather

On a road trip from Northern California to Montana with my mother and one of her sisters, we drove through Pocatello Idaho. I was about Five and remember making a joke about Poking someone's Tello when we got there.

Boring is getting to be just about my speed. As I’m getting older, I find large cities to be ridiculously fast paced, and enjoy the comfortable refuge of small towns. The history of these places is simply fascinating.

Inspired by your videos we are coming to the end of a 4 week road trip through 12 states. There's now 6000 more miles on the rental car and it's been amazing. I'm drawn to the little towns lije Yazoo and Broken Arrow

I found a polished Kirby on the side of the road and took it home. It worked for another 15 years until one day sparks came out of the motor. Probably just needed the brushes replaced, I should have fixed it.

What a beautiful town! Love that you give statistics on the towns you travel through. I get so hungry seeing the great restaurants you and Nic eat at! Thanks for letting us all tag along on the journey

A lot of US towns and cities are pretty dull but that doesn’t make them bad places to live. I have been to many places with lots to see and do for the visitor that l wouldn’t want to live there.

My mate was a kirby service engineer apparently when you bought a kirby it came with a life time garrante like snap on tools and serviced every year no charge that's why thay were very expensive

7: 44 : : yes as one ages one would prefer quiet environments than that of the noisy city type of places. maybe that is how human DNA works Just thinking aloud. Regards - from Bharat (India)

I think Buster Brown's dog's name was pronounced Tag I remember that shoe company had a TV commercial during the 1970s with animated characters based on the comic strip characters.
reply

I did a six month bridge project there and yes you pegged it! Its was a big disappointment so boring. The locals are boring too but never want to leave and travel they like it there.
reply

in fact I feel so relaxed seeing all your videos -as most of them show non-noisy places, trees, deserts, mountains and long lonely roads. I sincerely appreciate your efforts. regards

Very nice video! I live in twin falls and am very grateful to be an idahoan.
Buster Brown's dog's name is pronounced 'Tie-g' (long I. btw, some useful information right there lol)

I lived in Chubbuck, just outside of Pocatello for a few years in the early 80s while in elementary school. Came back to the general area for college to Utah State, like you.

I can see why the Clean Museum's huge parking lot was empty. A very nice town, but maybe that museum contributes significantly to its boring reputation. Food looked good.
reply

I don’t know why but one of my favourite parts of your vidoes now is when you go out to eat and show and react to the food lol usually looks good and is interesting lol
reply

: ) Thanks for another Great share and Video! Looked like a very nice place and food. YUMMM: ) ALL the BEST and safe travels from Left Coast! :) Cheers!

Honestly, living in Pocatello for the past 20 years, it's okay(ish. But I'm a countryside person born and raised. City life's never been my thing.

This town reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode A Stop At Willoughby. I think I had a pair of Buster Brown shoes and is dog name is pronounced Tyg.

Old Town with The Yellowstone is on the south side of the tracks, I call the north side by the courthouse, ISU, and Museum downtown.

I've never found anything boring about Pocatello. I grew up in nearby Utah and had many friends from the area. To me it's a great place.
