EXACTLY as I predicted all over the place:
The ES is such a disappointment.
I told you all this was gonna happen. I told you this would be a huge letdown. But alas, all of you chose to laugh and mock me with your all too familiar comments like Naveen owns a Camry. And you went so far as to making threats to block me online. Well guess what Your attempts backfired(as usual.
And now, it’s my turn to laugh at and mock all of you. It’s clear you don’t know anything about cars. You consistently failed to prove me wrong. I’m having a field day on everyone’s disappointment.
At this point you’re gonna have to acknowledge that Naveen the Toyota hater was actually right and that you should have listened. If I were you I’d not even bother driving the new ES as we all know it’s going to be a huge letdown. Other sedans leave this behind and it’s not even out yet. That’s how far behind Toyota really is. Spare me the sales comments because that doesn’t make a car objectively superior

personally I think the vehicle is fine. ES has never been sporty so the larger dimensions and room add to it's luxury appeal. Also Lexus products are almost always just a fancier toyota. This continues that trend but also strays away by offering a full EV version along with more modern tech. I like that those haptic are actually buttons or feel like buttons when you press them. There is some parts sharing like the shifter is directly from the all new Rav4. Happy to see them continue to use real wood and the ambient lighting looks very neat. You can turn it off if you do not like it. I think material quality and screen integrations are the only major things lacking.
If Lexus can keep the price around 45K-50K for the base hybrid fwd/awd and the price for the electric versions around 55K-60K it would be a decent deal. The range on the EV models is lacking though. Too small of a battery IMO

Glad to see the spindle is gone. Everything else is disappointing, especially the generic interior. You used to be able to sit in a luxury vehicle and know it’s a Lexus. And if you were in other premium cars, you might talk about how nearly Lexus like it was. Now you get in this car, cover up the logos and you might think it’s a Polestar or a much improved Tesla, but you wouldn’t compare it to a Lexus. Also, the nose is too long for an EV. It’s a car that’s trying to cover a lot of market segments, which means too many compromise. Pitty. I was looking forward to the redesign for years now.

The 2023-2025 lexus ES models just became significantly more valuable with how god awful this redesign is. Did toyota sell lexus to a chinese company or something I really love my ES but I would never be caught dead in that thing. Like please lexus, just scrap the hybrid version of this, sell this as a different model and continue on the 2025 ES as hybrid only because that is a car actually worth buying. You're not byd, you will never be byd, and the ES will never be cheap enough to compete with byd han no matter how you try.

ES sales have dropped 40% over the last ten years. Sedan's only account for 20% of Lexus sales. A dying breed so Lexus said we need to shake it up. US sales will drop substantially on this new generation. The ES is a luxury sedan and they have made it into a Dodge Charger. The black plastic zigzag line on the doors is hideous. The interior is as ugly as a Tesla's. The black under the headlights looks like running mascara. Currently own two Lexus's.

Toyota and more specifically Lexus designers have lost their way. Their newer models and especially this new ES are just butt ugly on the outside and the interiors look cheap, uninspiring and definitely not luxurious. If they keep this up they can pretty much guarantee that Genesis will leapfrog them as the go-to Asian luxury car brand with their considerably better looking exteriors and much more luxurious and inviting interiors.

Travis and Nick, Oh dear, another vehicle has failed the Travis Test. The ES is yet another example of rear seat headroom being unable to cash the check written by generous rear legroom. Lexus needs to revisit their origin story and see what
Mercedes and BMW are doing in the world of expensive sedans. Please note this is the Travis Test which is not to be confused with the Victor Wembanyama Test.

I thought outgoing gen looked wonderful but I still think the new one is very striking and design forward. Ultimately, this design is really to appeal to the ES's biggest market now, China, and to appeal to EV shoppers. My wife is hoping in a few years when she gets tired of her Prius that she'll swap it for a PHEV ES!

I said it on another video, but I really feel like Lexus needs better render artists. The press renders make this thing look horrific compared to a real life copy. Its certainly polarizing, but not as bad as the renders make it look. Im not a fan of that steering wheel though. Thats a big yikes

My first impression of a few weeks ago when I first saw the 2026 ES has remained the same. In fact, a new slogan for promoting the ES occurred to me:
_Introducing The 2026 Lexus ES: For Those Who Thought the Previous Generation Was Too Good Looking_

I’m not a big fan of the styling. The grille is a bit too tall and blunt. I don’t care for the black hockey stick on the side. But my largest disappointment is the interior. I prefer physical buttons and a conventional shifter.

I swear cars are becoming toyish and uglier. I will choose the previous model 1000 times over this. Especially cause of that buttery smooth V6.
PS: most of this reviewers aren just dickriding the car manufacturers

Botastic video
Not the worst looking hyrbid/ electric but the performance numbers vs range is very much middle of the field.
Lexus loyalists will eat it up but cross shopping might leave others wanting more

This should be aimed at me but just does not do much for me at the same time. The styling is part of it. Weird long front overhang. The hvac/infotainment controls do not look great.

Design of the new ES was heavily influenced by Chinese BEVs, as Lexus wants to compete better in China. But it really doesn't look nicer than BEVs half of its price.

It was designed for the world’s biggest car market and it shows.
Edit: hot take, but I like the backlit wood panels that are on the doors inside.

Bummer that they went for the more aggressive equals more good design refresh. I feel like Lexus would benefit from a more refined and subtle design language.

Correction: The headlights are not L shaped. that is the DRLs. The headlights are below that in a separate module in a box/rectangle.

Trying to be like a Swedish design mimicking Volvo in Ikea style, but it really did not work out. Sorry to see Lexus new heading.
