Looking for an AWD family sedan? When Ford's Fusion rides off into the sunset there will be only two options in America: the all-new Nissan Altima and the all-new Subaru Legacy. Can the Altima be the answer for someone who needs or wants AWD but doesn't want a CUV? Let's find out

This car has me a bit vexxed. I keep on saying the company car of company cars. The AWD is nice twist. Not a car I think I want to own. If my company gave me a budget to get, I would lease one with the max miles option. I probably would have owned the Outback. So the Legacy would make more sense. Also no slip and grip AWD all the time. The Turbo 4 in the Subaru would be more entertaining and more complete infotainment system. Nissan still uses small screens. Why? My friend's Versa has a screen not much smaller even. The trunk says perfect traveling sales person trunk. I like the that allot. Why Nissan didn't include the VC Turbo for AWD is their biggest mistake here. That is leaving money on the table for Subaru to have with Legacy. Just outright silly. The elephant in the room here is how effective is the AWD, and is it worth it. In snow climes believe it or not, the tires will be more important than the drive system most of the time. Front wheel drive and Blizzaks on all 4 corners on a FWD may out do the AWD with its stock tires. Also with the utility of the Outback not far off price wise here, if I can only have one car, the Altima would not be it. Just get the Outback with the Turbo and get the non SUV vehicle, but still have the ground clearance and the non slip AWD and have some Blizzaks still for winter tires. Again if with AWD, tires matter. See tirerack and learn something about how important grip of the tires are first. I owned 2 Subarus so far. WRX, and Legacy GT. Both real good in the snow with the right tires. I miss the sporty feel of the Legacy GT with it's turbo 4. That is why I want the Outback with the Turbo 4 to get the extra ooomph I want and still have a generous way back. I didn't want the usual SUV, and Outback is a refined jacked up wagon instead. So though interesting, the Altima is a pass for me. Great reviews as always Alex.

Alex, always enjoy your vids. If you don't know me I do not question that, I plan to get a Model Y in the next 1-3 years. My Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Lease ends Fall 2020. Anyway, I always like the cargo comparisons you do, but not many try to fit in 30 suitcases. I am just off a trip where I had a 2019 Altima and overall I quite pleased with it. I was able to push back in the trunk two 30 suitcases lying down and a couple backpacks where the truck closes so it fit. Sonata I tried in 2018 did not fit. Fusion forget it especially on a hybrid, probably cannot get in 1 30. Would you ever consider getting a couple 30 suitcases to fit in vehicles? I still think I want a crossover, but this 2020 AWD Altima really felt pretty good. I had a base trim so no brake or maybe that is new for 2020 and that is a super feature, all cars should have it. Thanks and take care

I have a 2013 Altima and it's been a pretty decent car. I haven't had any problems in 90000 miles (here's hoping that keeps up. And I have to say compared to previous Toyotas I've had the cabin is way less rattly than any of those wore at the same mileage. The difference might be in powertrain longevity. My dad's driving my previous '07 Camry which now has around 200k. The engine sounds like it's gonna live forever. But the Nissan (usually) sells for a couple thousand less than the competition, so maybe it's worth it? It is a very comfortable cruiser.

Mazda is exploiting the exact same look across their line-ups without the minimum amount of variationNissan's signiture looks are not even as attractive as the Mazda'sSubaru Legacy looks just like old(two gen ago) Sonata, which looked old even back then. Camry and Accord's faces are getting kinda lame and boring tooThe new Sonata is an interesting attempt, but we'll have to see them in personI actually like Fusion's face, but it's lacking some latest features and is discontinuing soon just like the Chevy CruzNo wonder sedans are dying in US

I wish manufacturers would make more economy based coupes. You get a lot of people buying vehicles like this for themselves and it proves due to how compact the back seat is, yet its 4 doors and designed around being a sedan. At this point just make it two door, give it bigger doors and you would still have a reasonable back seat for when you need it. Coupes are so much nicer for a single driver it sucks they are either very expensive or muscle cars

Thanks Alex The Altima's V-Motion grille and overall front-end design has grown on me after seeing them on the road. It's a homerun I think the C-pillar's Floating Roof black trim piece is a well-thought-out and cohesive design endeavor which ties the Alti to other Nissan models. It shines in comparison to the Camry XSE's much cheaper quality paint-only roof separation. Shade thrown at the Camry

Alex, thanks so much for speaking up to #SaveHeadroom. This Altima has the worst headroom in a class of cars already notorious for shortchanging tall occupants. What exactly is the point of a mid-size sedan that cannot accommodate adult rear seat passengers? Once again, we are being forced into SUVs if we want any #practicality whatsoever in a modern vehicle.

Looks OK, but current designs of many cars are way worse than a decade ago. The sedans are unnecessarily long, the Accord is just ridiculous. Try parking it in Toronto. The proportions are wrong, the front grills exaggerated, the rear looks more like a coupe than a sedan, the tablet on top of the dashboard is annoying etc etc. Why I'm not buying a sedan.

Not one of the 4 front vents have a way to turn down or off the volume/velocity of the air asked for? And the seam you mentioned at the center surrounding infotainment. whoa, don't look to GM for interior finish queues Seems the floating roof integration could have been more seamless as well. too picky am I

Considering Nissan's unreliable CVT, hopefully one day they listen to their customers and use a different transmission. I think an 8 speed auto would be prefect. Now with the way it's priced, fully LED head and tail lights should come standard on the SR and up
