Just how good is the new Ferrari Amalfi - Full review - Autocar

This is the new Ferrari Amalfi, which succeeds the Roma and brings vital updates to Ferrari's entry-level car. At more than 200, 000, of course, entry-level is a relative phrase. This is a luxury sports/GT car that has 631bhp from its twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Amalfi may be new - although just how new is one of the subjects in this review - but its rivals remain largely the same: the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Bentley Continental GT, and Porsche 911 Turbo. So how good is the new Ferrari, and how would it fare against those rivals Join Autocar road tester Illya Verpraet has he finds out. I was highly critical of this presenter several videos ago, but today I want to come back with this video, I think I am warming up to him now And find this video and presentation actually quite good, so I want to apologize for the previous knee jerk criticism. Please don't go anywhere, your knowledge and presence is ok with me now, but of course it is not up to me. So please forgive me. You are alright. Carry on; . Looking forward to your next video mate.

Finally a journalist who is honest about not recalling a fleeting moment with the Roma, years ago, to this. You will only know if it’s a material improvement when driven back to back exploring the cars full capability. Else it’s just a review on superficial details and style.
I sense the minor increase in BHP are just marketing talking points.

Like almost all cars Ferrari make these days, it isn't a good looking car, which unfortunately means it falls at the first hurdle. The 296 is Cinderella, the rest of the line up are the ugly sisters. Dear Ferrari: Pick up the phone and call your old friend Pininfarina

This dude is great! Illya where have you been hiding! Ignore the douchebags! If they had bothered to listen to your opinion they might not have been so ignorant! Finally a reviewer who gives his honest opinion about a Ferrari.

I've seen plenty of reviews where the Aston was easily the choice over the Roma. Ferrari is not moving in a great direction with their designs. Aston Martin is peak beauty, at the moment.

Proper executive sporty GT. Sorry 13 year old, it is not a 1200 HP Pagani and yes, the ZR1 is cheaper. but when you're older, you'll see the point of this beautiful package of a Ferrari

This plain speaking is only remarkable because of how cowed other motoring journos are by Ferrari's reputation for blacklisting. Bravo, Illya, this is really refreshing.

Good job, Illya. Easily the best review you've done to date. Much more natural presentation style, good scripting and just the right touch of dry humour. Keep it up!

Only Ferrari I'm excited about is the upcoming Ferrari Electtrica. It'll finally be something new and not held back by internal combustion.
