This year, production of the Land Rover Defender comes to an end after more than 60 years. To see how the iconic 4x4 has changed over the years, we headed to the Inner Hebrides to drive different models from the car's history, from the original Series I to the modern-day Defender itself. Still the best at 60? There are probably many many people that would argue that actually ever was the best.
Some love the Jeep products, some the Toyota Landcruiser, some the Mercedes G-wagen. I'm pretty sure that outside of the UK many if not most people never have considered the Land Rover to be the best. The least reliable. certainly. But the best? ;-)

Best at breaking down maybe, not much else. This is a vehicle that should have been discontinued 40 years ago when it ceased to be competitive with much more modern machinery. Sorry but mother had one and it was nothing but trouble from new until she managed to get rid of the awful remnant.

WRONG. When the coil sprung vehicles were introduced the lineup was 90, 110 & 127. The 130 designation didn't come in until the Defender rename. Actually, the leaf sprung 88- was sold along side the new 110 for a period of time.

i wish they would keep the production of the old Defender and then bring call the new 2016 Defender the Defender sports or something like they have done with the Range rover sports and discovery sports haha

Land Rover didn't have great marketing for that model, people tend to forget the Defender as an option, even when it was cheaper then the Disco and often more practical.

landrover my favourite car it can go anywhere. it will be very sad to see it go to be replaced by the new one and the only ever car that I will be sad if it went completely.

Funny thing is that ive heard they arent all that reliable. Also in terms of looking at a 1980-1990s Defender, people say, better look at a Land Cruiser or Merc G.

Replacement?
It's April 2018 and no sign TATA ROVER are releasing anything yet!
Shame as the defender was if nothing else - iconic.

Good video but I think you should have included the -old- Defender like a 90s or pre-07 one rather than jumping to the 2015
