It's a strange collection of cars, but you might be surprised at the results of this track battle between the Tesla Model S P85D, Audi RS7 and Alpina XD3! They each have all-wheel drive but use different fuels - gasoline, diesel and electricity!

A nice test, and one of the few really adressing Tesla handeling and cornering feel. Most tests adressing Tesla handeling ends up telling you how awesome the Gforces feel off the bat in a straight line, but everyone knows some american cars are great like that, and that Teslas can easily provide this one trick pony ability. Ive found less videos on how this heavy american comes to handeling in and out of turns etc, compared to some proper germans. Thats an area american cars have struggled more through history, I reckon. I am contemplating a Tesla S, but on the contrary to many, I am scared it being just a mad-accellerating Ipad on wheels. I guess Im getting a little old fashioned hehe.

like this Test, very nice! saw this guy driving an Alpina D 3 nailin an M3. i suppose if we do ten to twenty laps with race pace then the little world may change. oh my breaks are going down and the front suspension starts to wiggle. oooh how fashionable Audi. the Electric will reduce power. ohh did i have my parachut on in my Tesla or batt hot? while as this stylish Agricultural fashion object becomes warm an nails better laps each time. yesh doesn, t matter i drive from Harrods to the Grosvernor house for a high tea. and a 500 or 600 hp matches the common mailmans Mc Claren bit better?

The Tesla lost yet people are saying that they love it. A Tesla is like a hot chick, yeah sure she looks fantastic and she makes all the boys and girls jealous, . And she is fantastic in the pleasure palace. But away from that moment of bliss, you suddenly realise that she is only dimension. No sense of humour, useless with a stove, she wants all your attention, and the only she knows about is lip stick and eye liner. At the that point, a part from stabbing your ear drums and pulling your eye balls out. You realise that you should of went the less hot but very attractive Audi.

I don't like the interior of the Tesla, I don't think they are focusing on that. Great engineering with the batteries and mad respect for Tesla working on the recharging infrastructure by adding supercharger stations all over Europe, North America, China, and other parts of the world. But I think aside from the massive touchscreen, the interiors feel below par compared to an E-Class Merc or Audi A8.

Yea.
Take the Tesla to a mid/large size track and the batteries will overheat before you finish 1 lap, then everyone will sail by.
It's a one trick pony. Short drag races and then it needs a rest. You will also wear out the motors and batteries much faster using all the performance.

I think X5/6M will probably be better suited in the video, and it will eat the other two alive on a track( knowing X6M beat M3 on a track from some magazine I read the other week. it is very surprising how fast the alpine is knowing it's a lot slower in straight line than the other 2.

Teslas suck at the track. Motor Trend refuses to do lap times with them. All the tests they've had, they only race them for distance straight line. I think Motor Trend has some kind of a deal with Tesla where they're not allowed to do lap times with Teslas.

Did Steve use the time off to prepare his coming out with this video?
Also: very strange line-up but that ugly Alpina did extremely well. Can't believe he was only one sec down to the even uglier RS7. Tesla all the way.

Can anyone explain to me why you would buy the alpina? It sucks offroad, its onroad ride and handling are compromised buts its height and weight and it uses tons of fuel because its the shape of a brick
reply

That Tesla has a Dutch number plate. What a surprise. The only electric car here is registered in a country with ridiculously extreme environment taxes.
