Jeep Cherokee: Really Extended Crank

I have a look at an older 1991 Jeep Cherokee with the big 4. 0l I-6 under the hood. The customer drove all the way from British Columbia so I could have a look at it. For the past several years he has been having a very, very long crank time before the vehicle would start. Doesn't take long to put our finger on this one and get it all straightened out

Awesome video sounds just my Chevy express van put new motor, fuel pump, injectors and fuel lines and it still doesnt like to start after a hot soak and I have fuel pressure but it does drop over a half hour from 55psi to 40psi. and it has done that since Ive owned it. mine starts fine cold tho. So curious if its possible for the gas to boil off from the heat of engine? And is that normal?

Why dont all fuel tanks have brass gravity drains built into them? Drain the tank, then use nitrogen gas to blow out the tank from the filler port.
Learned about submersible rubber gas tubing!
Thanks and best wishes for the New Year!

I literally just had this happen to me on my mustang. I couldnt get adequate fuel pressure, and I dropped the tank and found a broken hose clamp and the hose was not fully on. Took me a little longer than Eric to find the problem. Good video.

Actually, it was fortunate that the tank was down to a lower level. If the tank was full, it is possible that hearing the fuel being sprayed inside the tank would have not been possible. eh? Good fix though! Always enjoy the vids!

Glad to see Marie is there to Eric O. straight. The whole little argument about not having control if and where you break down should have taught him never argue with a women, especially a young women. you never win.

Oh man! I suggested sharing your knowledge with the younger generation in exchange for cheap labor and valuable wisdom for them, however I forgot that kids already know everything LOL. POOR GUY

You helped me. Mine does the same thing but its far less noticeable. it takes a second but once it's started, it's fine. I've had the problem for a while but now I know and can fix it!

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee 4. 0 has exhibited the same long crank. Your video has helped a lot with diagnosis. I'll message back once the issue is resolved. Thanks: )

Hey boss love your videos they helped me figure out and repair a grip of stuff on 95 ZJ. Can I ask, what model Acctron scanner did you use to read this vehicle?
reply

You're lucky. It seems like every time I've had to pull a fuel pump the customer stopped by the gas station and topped off on the way to the shop!
