320 hp after dyno they've done resulted actually into 334 hp. Cupra also 300 resulted in 311. So basically the difference are 24hp. The new transmission from the Golf R is doing the whole job when drag racing. Also the drag race is not fair due to the FWD vs AWD. Brake test was legit. I would also compare them with same amount of power because ffs it's same old EA 888 engine 2. 0 TSI with IS38 Turbo (for Golf7 and Cupra 5F). so if they had the same power (ECU - map) I think that on the rolling the cupra would have won. All-in-all. Great cars!

Here-s the thing. The golf r 8 is actually dynos at around 340hp minimum.
Torque is up too. I can-t remember the figures for it. But that-s defo why it held its ground on the rolling race.
These new golfs are so good. And I-m not even a fan boy. Definitely prefer everything about the golf r 8 over the 7/7. 5

Unless it's something really special, like an A45, I'm really not interested by 4 cylinder cars anymore. 6 and 8 cylinder engines still have a purpose and place but, 4 cylinders are so easily beaten by electric cars these days, why would anyone want the horrible sound of a raggy 4 pot up front?

VW cheaters. intentionally put less aggressive map into the ecu's of Cupra, S3 and similar. FWD is also a drawback. Although, most of stage1 ECU remap's can fix that on audi and cupra's. with just conservative ecu remap (eco remap. Just a matter of days when US gonna ban them, again: D

SEAT really has lost the plot with these new feminine designs. If I ever go back to owning a Leon, it will be the Leon Cupra Mark 1 or at the very least MK2.
Just something about the grille and bulky look that I admire about their first generation Leon.

May have dialled it back a little because the last time they checked the cupra was quicker on the go. Having said that I saw the club sport posted identical times 100-200 as the golf R in another test. I-d say nothing in them once moving.

Not a big secret. In the VW Group, on compareable cars, Audi will be quicker than VW and VW quicker than Seat. Just not a 100% if a Seat or Skoda will be quicker. But I think it ll go Audi->VW->Seat->Skoda.

It'a not only the 4WD or the +20hp.
The golf has a different trim, higher, I can asure you.
The CUPRA won golden steering wheel awards, that says everything.

I went to buy a new Leon, but in my opinion is the ugliest hatchback from nowadays. Also, is has no buttons in the center console and has a useless screen interface.

What did you think, Mat? It's a bloody Seat.
Also, 4WD cars always stop better than 2WD cars. The linked differentials and drivetrain help slow the car down.
