Mat s in the Subaru Impreza P1, and he s going head-to-head with another world-famous rally car, the Mitsubishi Evo VI! They re two very different cars, but their stats are oh-so similar. Starting with the Subaru, it s powered by a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that can put down 280hp & 353Nm of torque. It s equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox, four-wheel-drive, and it tips the scales at 1, 283kg. As for the Evo, well it s also packing a 2-litre turbo petrol engine, and while it puts down an identical 280hp, it can produce slightly more torque, at 373Nm. Just like the Subaru, it also includes a 5-speed manual and four-wheel-drive, but it s slightly heavier, at 1, 360kg. Corleth: Japanese imports have 180 kmp limiters, I thought they were meant to replace the speedo with a UK mph one though but I may be wrong.
I bought an imported Supra in Leatherhead, wasn't sure it it had a limiter but found out that it did while going down the M25 slip road at Reigate 10 minutes after I bought it when it cut out at just over 110 mph.

22 years later, Toyota have given us the modern day version of these cars. TME beats the scooby, GR Yaris beats the TME. Amazing how they are both heavier than a GR Yaris given all the safety requirements these days.
Great to see the owners allowing these cars to be raced, bother very rare cars. TME over the P1 for me

Ahh. back when cars had SO much soul. I remember when that Lancer was competing with my all time dreamcar the RS4 B5 Avant (same era) back in year 2000 in a Swedish magazine Teknikens Varld. Very close match, but the Audi won. I read that one like 200 times. 15 years later, I bought my very own RS4 B5 Avant. Memories

There is generation of men who followed rallying wanted one or the other of those cars. Influenced by the legendary C McRae and T Makkinen.
It didn t get any better than that, that was the pinnacle of the sport of rallying!

Great vid but I think you missed a trick here. Should have swapped cars and done a couple more races for ultimate bragging rights between two mates.

Is it a TME? Thought the bumper didn t have fogs on a TME and had a hole to feed the intake one side and also a plaque by the gear knob?

Whot brakes? Hahahaah
HEYY MATT would be fun in the 1 on 1 drag races to see you switching cars
Just to eliminate driver issues

I missed the last time it's all about who builds or tuned the better cars with JDM etc. Now it's all about battle of the riches

My completely stock 224wrx WRX did one time a 14. 00 for the 1/4mile. But with an empty tank and not measured with a phone
