Something has to give, and it won't be the masses.
There has to be a conservative effort made in technology if these are ever to become mainstream.
Norway is an exception, as its government has a tremendous amount of incentives for its inhabitants toward zero emissions.

Love this! It would be interesting to see these cars in entry 'engines' because most people will buy these, for exemple: audi Q4 e-tron 40 vs kia ev6 rwd vs hyundai ioniq 5 rwd vs ford mustang mach-e rwd. I would love to see that! A race for the entry electric crossover/suv's! please make this happen

Redefines personal vehicles - fast, lardy, boring - all combined to trash our already underfunded roads! Similar-capacity vehicles 30 years ago were 800-1, 000 kg LIGHTER. Surely technology should be looking here as well - not just have us all driving rocket-powered trucks? !

That final challenge with regenerative braking was better then any other brake test! Now for the answer of how the Kia won, it's not too boxy like SUVs! Lower cars, longer body and less tall height makes a car more aerodynamic, and that's why the Kia is more aerodynamic!

This must've been the most boring drag race I've ever seen in my entire life
I'd rather watch a Fiat 500 v Yugo v Lada v Beetle v Mini cooper v Reliant robin race each other over 2 tonnes electric elephants barely making any speed or sound

For the EV soundcheck you could do a reverse drive with an EV. They all make the strangest sounds while reversing. Tesla sounds like a spaceship while my ID. 3 just zooms. The Kia sounds like a truck in reverse beeping like crazy.

I bought a kia cerato a couple years ago, brand new off the lot for 27k NZD and that was the middle model. You get a lot of bang for your buck with kia. Pretty much all the bits n pieces you'd get from a much more expensive car

And the kicker is not only does the Kia perform the best and is the cheapest. Tech wise it s the best and it s also got better build than the other 2. I love my VWs but the ID4 is a decidedly average VW product. Well done Kia

Many years ago I had an original Kia Sportage, and loved it. especially when compared to its competitors of the time, it was fantastic value. I note that they are still very much doing the same thing!

Shows everything that's wrong with the electric car market. 48k for a Kia. total nonsense. It may perform better in the test but this brand is meant to be a value car. 48k is not a budget option.

I d take that KIA for sure! Great looking car (the best from those 2) and it feels more sporty in that color and those rims! The price? Great as the car and quality building is! KIA FOR SURE!

The future is dull soundless boring and souless and i remain very uninterested in electric cars. I can see why they appeal to many. and they make sense for short journeys. But its a nope for me.

Hi Matt, in the stats for EV cars on drag races it would be good see the range too. there'd be no point buying the faster car if it didn't have the range that you required, Thanks Iim
