I kept having this problem a few years ago. It was a real pain to get those fixtures out, and I never could find and fix the damned leak. They would continue to fill up with water and slosh around until a hot bulb would break.
I finally got tired of that and drilled a hole on the bottom so they would drain. I have not had a problem with them (that I'm aware of) since then.

I've battled this problem for years and had MUCH better luck by carefully drilling 2 vent holes about 1/2 (12mm) diameter thru the back reflector in diagonally opposite corners. If water splashing is a problem you can make a splash hood from some duct tape that will keep water out but let air circulate freely. End of problem.

Hi Chris, I have an 2002 Audi ALLROAD A6. The rubber seal is gone in some places and some places has been cut up. So water/rain has been getting inside. Is there a can spray that can be used that becomes a rubber gasket/seal?
Thanks,
Norma

Thanks Chris. this helped me out a lot. Had to take my bumper off to get the headlight out tho. Wasnt too thrilled but i drained all the water out. How long shld i wait till all the tiny droplets evaporate off the lens? i have no heat gun

I found that putting the lens in a container with a lid and a DampRid works very well. After one day it was dry. It will suck all the water out of the lens before you reseal it. Hope this helps.

1: 52 the bulb filament has seen better days, why not also renew the bulb while you are at it. Thank me later for high lighting this.
And yes don't touch the bulb GLASS

He makes everything look hunky doorey. Reality is being a tech, mechanic, or engineer in the field is a nightmare at times. Just so many way for a single system to fail.

I'm so glad this fix did not involve either WD-40 or duct tape! My own suggestion would be to throw a cup of rice into it.
