Ever wonder what grade gasoline should you use in your car (what octane? Are you paying for premium gas when you can just use regular? Are you using regular and damaging your engine? This video will bust all of the myths and tell you the FACTS on what fuel you should use and why. Many people throw money away and fill their car with the incorrect fuel every day. Running premium or midgrade in a car designed to run regular is a waste of money and has no HP or MPG benefits. You will not make more power or get better fuel economy running premium fuel if the car manufacturer tunes the car to use regular gas in most cases. I also see some people run regular gas in cars that need premium and the knock sensors have to adjust timing significantly to prevent damaging engine knock. I also hear a lot of people say that premium gasoline has more energy or burns cooler or slower so I will put a rest to all of these myths with facts. More info on fuels and additives

I put 91 octane minimum in all my gas vehicles; don't care what the manufacturer states. Even lawn tractor gets premium fuel, I hate the smell of cheap gas! However, all my vehicles are high performance. You get better fuel mileage from higher octane fuel too. Plus you save on repairs and the motor just sounds like it runs better.
If I put regular (87) in my Escalade, check engine light goes on and starts flashing. lol.
Sometimes, premium is not available and in the coronna era, many gas stations close at 5pm. so you're stuck with either cheap gas, or take a motel until the next day. so cheap gas it is! However, I like the idea of carrying a can of Octane Booster; thanks for that tip! =D
Flexfuel hahaha that's cute.

I think when people say high test is better. it might be because a modern car's engine can advance the ignition timing which will give you more power and better mileage. A good test would be to determine once and for all. does 91/93 increase mileage and power or not? Does 91/93 keep your injectors and valves cleaner or not? I wish you'd have done those two tests because I struggle with that when I'm at the pump!

Amazing video Chris! Two questions for you. You showed valves and how port injected engines clean them, but how do you clean them in direct injection engines? Is there any way to do so without taking the engine apart? Also, do you recommend running e-85 (assuming your vehicle can take it, of course. From what Ive read it has a lower energy content, but is it better or worse for your engine? Thanks!

Higher compression requires higher octane but higher altitude means thinner air and lower compression. In Colorado above 5000 ft our regular gas is only 85 octane But that is fine for cars that specify 87 Because in this altitude 85 octane works as good as 87. Unless your car is turbo charged which increases the air pressure in your engine.

I have heard this story before. Bottom line is whether you have a 5 hp engine or 300hp, the higher the octane, the more efficient the engine runs! I own an 05 tahoe, if i burn regular gas it uses more of it! That includes the lawnmower as well. I have done the test over + over + it's always the same. Thats my story+ i'm stickin' to it.

That fuel injector spray comparison. that was like before and after a night in a hotel room with an 8 ball and a couple hookers. Good solid spray before. spraying to one side or another and mild discomfort after. Not good!

Do you know that on every modern car on the fuel gage there's an arrow pointing left or right. This arrow points to which side the fuel filler is on. I never knew that until a young whipper snapper like Chrisfix told me!

Wow, who'd have thought to use the type of gasoline the car manufacturers recommend for each vehicle. So glad i watched 16 minutes to learn the obvious, but i guess this video wasnt intended for me.

Nice job chris, I would have liked to hear about the 10% alcohol content that is in usa gasoline which is not added to fuels in other countries. Perhaps another video, no need to re edit this one.

We need to redo this video now that Biden is destroying our energy independence and jacking our energy prices through the roof so his friends in the middle east can get paid more.
