How Much Weight can you REMOVE from your Car? (Weight Reduction) Patrick: Another fast way to remove weight is to take out the steel skeletons from the hood and trunk with a drill and using hood pins to secure them down at the track. The hood will be easier than the trunk though. Also, with those lightweight wheels and Yokohama tires, you may very well see sub 5. 6 zero to sixty times, with the cage.

Theres a bunch of weight left. The ac is crazy heavy. Theres a bunch of stuff under the good that can go. Emissions parts, heat shields, etc. Same for under the car, heat shields and brackets everywhere, the factory exhaust is probably over 100lbs. Then you could go through the interior cutting off all the tabs and brackets you no longer need. Theres probably another 200lbs to be taken out.

The E46 is my dream car. It makes me sad to see you gutting it, but at least I learn how to fully disassemble the interior in case I have to work on the body, if I ever get one to work on.
Keep up with the great work Chris!

If you would have taken it to the drag strip, Hooligan showed that for every 100 pounds you shave like. 1 or. 01 seconds off your time, but they did this to the extreme because they were just ripping the car apart.

Can you put plastic side windows? And the window regulators, door airbags, speakers, door wiring. all of that is heavy AF! Would love to see how much more weight you could shed off by removing that

You forgot about light weight wheels and carbon fiber drive shaft. Remember Rotational weight is X4, If you remove 25 lbs. of Rotational weight its equal to removing 100 lbs. off the car.

Plastic wings and bonnet and boot lid would save a lot too just goes to show you all the crap our cars carry just to make them quieter, would electric cars need this insulation?

for the door cards, are you required to use stock cards? because you could easily take thme off and just do a flat sheet of aluminum or something (unless that costs too much)

Replacing wheels and tires with lightweight ones can make a huge difference. It is said that removing 10lbs of unsprung weight is like removing 100lbs from the car!
