Oh, by the way. Once the weather starts cooling down and I can finally get the fuel pump replaced on my expedition, can I make an appointment with you to run you're super expensive diagnostic thingamajig and check it out for any other issues it may have? I know for a fact that I sure as hell don't know who to trust, if anyone at all, in Laredo, so I'm willing to make the trip to Houston to see you unless you know of a truly honest mechanic in the San Antonio area. I'm the second owner of the thing and it was generally very well taken care of, but I get the feeling the first owner, a family member, isn't being 100% forthcoming about the issue with the ABS light being on. There's only one truly trustworthy mechanic here but he has a contract with the postal service to work on their vehicles and is swamped with work practically all the time and it's next to impossible to get an appointment with him so that's not even an option here. I'd hate to blow your cover. but are you listed?

I really do find myself sharing scotty's advice to people. I told some girl at work to not buy a jeep, lease it, then give it back. Been telling my mom to get rid of her 2012 aging chrysler 200. Told some of my chevy fans to not buy newer gm products and get a ford truck, because they are better built then chevy as of current. Anyone recommend a reliable vehicle, I tell them toyota, even though i'm not a fan of toyota, they are reliable. Never a nissan. My nephew got a newer nissan sentra and i scolded him about how it was a bad buy and the cvt transmission is garbage. Luckily his was replaced before he bought it and should get some life out of it.

When using online dictionary of phrases. One can enter: Shadetree MechanicDef: A person that tries to be a viable automotive technician, when in reality, this person is a hobbyist, at best. See also: Scotty KilmerPO171The FIRST application of diagnosis after initial visual is to SMOKE CHECK THE SYSTEMYou do this BEFORE doing ANY mechanical repair. Time and time again, you poorly represent true professionals. You did not save your customer thousands. To do so, your customer would first have had a confirmed and detailed written estimate with a total cost of at least 2, 000. 00 over YOUR final bill. That is math.

What a load of rubbish and engine check light come on for any number of reasons a PCV valve will not put an engine management light on because its not electrically connected right engine management light come on if its emissions related because its more likely to be a Lambda probe probe before cat or after cat bloody PCV valve Scotty loves a PCV valve and you dont tighten down a rocker cover till its tight you nip it up and talk wrench it only aluminium as you distort it

You guy's know what I really love about scotty? He actually diagnoses and fixes thing's. I've known way to many mechanics ready to slap a part on and pray. Nothin worse than a four hundred dollar repair bill and being told ( hopefully that fixed it ) Seriously though. If it was feasible I would ship my car to scotty and back to me. Yeah it would cost a ton but at least I would know it was fixed. Simply put, We need more Scotty's

Hello Scotty Could my Grand Vitara 2003 have a similar problem? My valve covers are leaking, the oil pressure sensor too. I have a Small EVAP system leak code. When i fill the tank or roll, there's no gas leak or odor. It was easier to diagnose on my 2003 XL7, the tank was leaking. On this one, it's less obvious. Gas tank apart, do you know what is the most common cause of such Check engine code on these small trucks?

Really informative video. But if I attempted this myself, I'd screw it up at every stage. I'd end up breaking the engine cover when removing it, probably be unable to get out the stuck bolts, and probably put on the gasket backwards, but only realise it after I reassembled the whole thing. This is exactly why I'd pay a guy like Scotty. He'll do it in 25% of the time, and not break anything else in the process

The debate here is should Scotty done more diagnostic work before tearing into it. He used the philosophy of fix what needs to be fixed at any rate. Replace a common failure part and visual inspection followed by hope it's fixed now. Time is money and if the fault still exists he would have needed to start again. With his experience I think his approach was a good one.
