The less viscocity, the less friction Uhhhhh. anyone else find something wrong with that statement? A base zero weight oil (regardless of whatever special designation they give it, is THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN. Hrrrrmmm. so unless every single component in all these modern engines has been cryogenically treated prior to assembly, it seems to me this ridiculously low viscosity oil is going increase wear, not decrease it. Case in point, my 2013 Lexus ES350. Calls for 0W-20. Yet the owner's manual states 5W-20 can be used. I've run 5W-30 in it since break in, with ZERO issues. And I drive this vehicle fairly hard. My friend has the same car. He warned me not to use 5W-30. Interestingly enough, whenever he comes over, his engine sounds like it has a slight rod knock at idle. And it isn't a torque converter bolt, either. That oil is too thin, unless you drive like someone's grandmother.

I like to use the oil, that has that titanium coating, ceramic coating, copper coating, etc. built right in it. It never breaks down. it last 300k miles. I have been using it for years, my Car has 3 million miles on it and when it runs, I cannot even hear the engine running. I sometimes wonder the effects these new oils have on the environment, when they get into the environment. Since these are inorganic or synthetic. They don't break down naturally or by natural processes in the environment. Which makes you wonder what is happening, if it gets into the water supply, gets on the soil, etc. if it floods and spreads it across 10 miles. Only time will tell. I guess?

Thank Scotty for bringing this to light. I am skeptical on the GF 6a blend. It seems to me that we are seeing oils with further reduction of ZDDP. Any of us who have been involved with cars as long as we have, all know the importance of ZDDP and that it helps lubricate ferous metals under heavy pressure. It baffles me how they are going to create an oil that will be all things to all motors. The cost to rebuild a motor is very expensive as you note in your video. Yet they keep reducing ZDDP in oil to make the CAT last longer but it is at expense of the motor. I am hoping that 10w30 and 10w40 will still be available for my collection of old Jeeps and 4x4 trucks. Plate C

I contacted Toyota to ask if my 2017 Toyota Corolla SE with a 6 speed manual transmission had DGI, because the dealer did not know. The answer from Toyota said the Corolla will not have have DGI until the 2020 model year. With my Toy that has variable valve timing, I will continue to use Mobil1 full synthetic. That is what the dealer uses, apparently. Rev up your old cars

Good info scotty. I didnt know about this. What do you think about these low viscosity oils abilities against wear? Do you think they're good or better than a 10-30 oil? It looks like the only thing they're worried about is mpg at the cost of wearing out faster. The oil is like water. I use what they say to use, but I just feel like I'm using water.

Is there an oil that pollutes MORE? I want to use that. All of these climate change retards have made me want to go the other way. I have always tried to be environmentally friendly, but these people have made me want to start burning my garbage and just run my lawn mower at night for the soothing sound of carbon emissions.

5, 000 mile oil change as opposed to 3, 000 mile oil change also has to do with better and faster roads that we now have. Today's cars average speed is over 35 miles/hr. In the olden days most cars drove in slower back roads so the oil change interval when looked as Engine Run Time is same or lower.

Im watching from the future and have 300, 000km (yes were metric now) on my 2029 model year General Toyota AHSO pickup. Been using Scotty recommended oil & stuff for agesBTW, Scotty has his own brand of parts that sell from the ScottyZone chain stores. Has also appeared on Dancing with the Stars.

The original Slick 50 from Australia? I drove from Long Beach, CA to Eagle Pass Tx with no oil after a single treatment. 1200+ miles at 75 mph for 26 hrs. engine never gave up. It was a 95 jeep 4 cyl. With 95, 000 miles on it.
