Winter has finally hit the steepest normal gauge railway in northern Europe. With its gradient of 1: 18 (55) you can say it can be somewhat challenging if the snow becomes to deep. Thankfully I had two EL18s at my disposal, with a total of 15. 000hp and only four B3 carriages. The Flm Line goes from Flm to Myrdal where it connects to the Bergen Line. Flm is located 2m (6. 5ft) above sea level and Myrdal is located 866m (2841ft) above sea level. The line itself is 20. 2km (12. 6miles) long. 0: 00 - Flm 4: 26 - Lunden 6: 50 - Hreina 17: 41 - Berekvam 22: 14 - Blomheller 29: 01 - Kjosfossen 34: 21 - Reinunga 36: 52 - Vatnahalsen 38: 18 - Myrdal

When I watch these videos of the trains journeying through
the countryside i feel like I'm up in the cab either navigating
the train or sitting next to the driver and just looking out the
window viewing the beautiful scenery, thanks. -.

The line from Freiburg (Fr) to Hinterzarten (Hz) in the Black Forest has the same maximum gradient of 1: 18. The maximum speed in the direction Fr - Hz is there 60 km/h, in the direction Hz - Fr (50 km/h.

thankyou for adding in the feet in elevation made it a lot easier on the understanding the elevation. What would be the max amount of snow you could manage even with that setup

Norway is a beautiful country I would love to visit. Especially in the areas where the line goes through during the winter time.

EL18-2252, with you behind the stick, my favorite ride. Such warm inviting lighting in the coaches, so warm and inviting.

When the tracks disappear! What is beautiful and inviting in the summer becomes stark and forbidding in the winter.
