Please keep in mind that this is my first ever trip report where I talk. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. - Here's the Great job! I appreciate the attempt at making a spoken video, that takes guts when it isnt your native language! The more you practise, the more you will improve. Im a native English speaker from Canada and I was able to understand pretty much everything you said. Your subtitled videos are still great, but sometimes I find myself concentrating on the subtitles more than the video. I also find that I have to pay close attention for when the subtitles are changing, so Im constantly looking at the bottom of the screen. With the spoken video, I noticed I was able to experience more of the visuals of the train without having to look for and read subtitles. People can always turn on the subtitles or mute the sound if they prefer subtitles or dont like the voice over, but theres no way to turn on voice if it isnt there. :) You could also try a video with the voice over and subtitles at the same time to see the response to that, but I, myself, am all for the videos with only the voice over.
Best of luck and keep up the great videos, I live vicariously through you! I hope to be able to travel to and through Europe again sometime in the near future. Maybe Ill ride with you!\r\n

2: 27 I don't know how weeds are harmful or negative in any way (do they damage the tracks or the train) but I like seeing them. It makes the tracks and the overall environment prettier!
I love hearing the French accent - but it was hard for me to understand, so I did have to turn the auto-subtitles on. So for the actual content I prefer subtitles. But I do like hearing your voice! It's good for moments like when you're describing the trip on the map and the summarization at the end.

Interesting to see you try out voice-over! Your English is quite good, but sadly your accent is just a bit too noticeable, which requires me to concentrate more on what you're saying than on the actual video. I think that's a shame, I prefer to be immersed fully in the video environment and the railway atmosphere.
So my opinion: this was a nice experiment, but I'd very much prefer if you went back to subtitles-only. :)

I did have problems understanding some words. While your English is decent, I'm not sure it is ready for narration.
Great job as always on the review. I hate dirty windows too!
When are you going to come back to the United States and review the most scenic route, the California Zephyr?

reply

I remember when Paul starting talking in his trip reports and I hated it. and then he didn't in one video and I hated it even more. So yeah, keep the spoken narration please. Its a lot easier to take in the sights when I don't have to split my attention with the subtitles.

While I appreciate the voice attempt, and the video, my wife and I who are American, found your French accent a bit thick and hard to understand at times. Suggest you stay with the captions instead. Loved the scenery, although the dirty coach windows detracted at times.
reply

i like the voice over but prefer the subtitles
because with the voice over, it goes to background sound to voice to background to voice, .
its not my thing
BUTT do what you like the most and what works the best for you. i will keep loving your video's!

reply

I like the overall change. Sometimes I found the subtitles distracting and prevented me from actually seeing your video. Additionally, hearing your voice makes it easier for the audience to connect with you. Also, Americans love French accents: )
reply

The accent was quite strong, a few words I couldn't understand. Needs to sound a little more enthusiastic too but the content was excellent with valid criticisms (weeds were bad) and comment on scenery -.
Pleasant change to have a spoken commentary.

reply

1 thing I don't like about the naration is the fact that the sound of the train cuts out as you speak, could you overlay the two, maybe if it's too loud just fading out the background noise untill it's not bothering is an option
reply

Great Video with the commentary(preferred. I did not miss always looking at the bottom of the screen for your description of what I am seeing. I also found your commentary very conversational; not stunted very well done. Thank you

As someone who's learning French, I'd love to have the combination of English subtitles and you speaking French as a voice-over: D Maybe that could be another test in the future but for now, good job for trying out new things!
reply

I kind of prefer the subtitles just because the videos are so chill that way. peaceful and can take in the sounds more. when someone is talking it makes it like i have to pay more attention or im missing stuff, etc
reply

As a non-native English speaker I appreciate the subtitles a lot. Voice is definitely nice too, as a matter of personal touch, but for me it would preferably be only on top of the subtitles, not instead of.
reply

Excellent alternative format and great to hear your voice. Nice and clear. I have to say you might have some people who struggle to understand your magnifigue French accent (I am a romantic I love the accent)
reply

Excellent! Although I love it, I do prefer the subtitles. but I wouldn't say no to a mix of both!
If you are interested also, the SNCF font for the start of your video is called -Achemine-: )

reply

I really like the insertion of still photos of interesting items such as viaducts, in addition to the video footage from inside the train. congratulations, your English is much better than my French
reply

Not a Native speaker, so I prefer subtitles. Although I absolutely loved the voice-over as well!
How about we. 'couple'. these two 'trains' of thought? Hmm?
Okay, I'll see myself out: p

reply

Your trip reports really have an amazing sound quality and ambience, making me feel I'm actually riding along all those different trains. That is why I prefer subtitles: )
reply

Thanks for the vocal narration; I really enjoyed this video. I agree, not having a conductor is very frustrating. It is not fair to have fare dodgers taking up seats on the train.
reply

I like the voice over type of vlog. somethimes, before, I was pausing to read the subs. now I can enjoy the view. some adjustments in the sound area and it will be fine. ;)
reply

You need at least a lapel mic to record the voice over. The voice recording in this video sounds echo-y. Also subtitles are still welcome even with voice over.
reply

Love the voice over, although looking at the comments its probably best to include both voice over and subtitles in the same vid to fit what everyone wants
reply

I like the sound of your voice very much in think you should do a few more talking video's adds some more human touch to the video ---
reply

I'd like to see this tipe of video in the future, but you can add subtitles too; )
I mean voice and subtitles, that would be perfect!

reply

Appreciate the vocals but at least for me it-s very hard to understand at times so subtitles would be great option if possible
reply

I much prefer your voice over subtitles but can appreciate why some might like subtitles. If I had to choose I would say voice --

Me as a Indonesian:
Before Watch: Yey There's a Indonesian flag -- on thumbnail ---
After watching: Wait the minute ---

reply

i like this, obviously english can be a bit better but its a minor thing and i can understand basicaaly everything fine.
reply

Was so surprised to hear the narration. I swear you told us you-d never do that. It was AWESOME! Keep it up! Thank you.
reply

Why don't you speak AND use subtitles? Some people prefer to watch your videos with the speakers turned off, others don't.
reply

I appreciate your effort but i prefer the old format. It is more mysterious, lets your materials speak up for itself.
reply

Please don't take this as an offence but I really get Pascal Sauvage vibes with this video haha! Really love the video's tho!
reply

I prefer the videos where you talk. I can concentrate on the views and not be distracted by reading. Well done.
reply

You have a nice voice and a nice accent but articulate more, we can't understand most of what you are saying!
