I was able to get out for a bit of train spotting on a friday afternoon in mid February. I went to the new double track in Carlsbad for my first time and a few other places. Here is what I saw:
At Cannon Road in Carlsbad:
1: Coaster 656 with Cab Car 2307 and engine 2105
2: Amtrak 583 with Cabcar 6900 and F59PHI 461
At La Costa:
3: Coaster 653 with F40PH 2104 and Cabcar 2306
At Del Mar:
4: Coaster 655 with F40 2103 and Cabcar 2310
At Sorrento Valley:
5: (hand held) Amtrak 580 with P42DC 81 and cabcar 6951
6: Coaster 657 with F59 3002 and cab car 2309

AmtrakCal462: There ya go! Bout time you post some Surfline stuff! Some of these quill engineers are crazy man. the guy on 583 in Cab 6900 only quills through Cannon Rd going 90? Not loud enough in my opinion for that speed! Date: 2022-05-12
