Japanese Curry and hanging with mum VLOG Out: Looks like you might have a slug problem in the garden. You could mix diatomaceous earth in the topsoil, or make a beer trap. Pour it in a cup and put a funnel on top, then just bury a couple of those so the top of the funnel is at ground level because I guess they love beer. The most organic pest control would be to plant some plants that attract predatory insects like wasps or ladybugs. You'd have to look up what plants would work in your area though (I use Queen Anne's Lace and sunflowers, they do the job and look nice. But from the looks of what you're growing slugs could be your main issue, hope your garden works out it's so fulfilling!

Freelee! Loved the video. Especially seeing that shot of the environment in Australia as you were driving! Very beautiful! I have been on this lifestyle for 3 months now and it has changed my life. Thank you for inspiring me so much! Do you have any advice about vitamins and supplements such as B12?

Plastic bottles, especially of the wider variety, with the bottom bit cut off and placed shallowly into the soil provide a nice covering for seedlings in inclement weather and protect against slugs and other beasties. it's also a good re-use of otherwise disposable materials. cheers.

My parents had a lemon tree in their garden when they lived in Adelaide and it became infested with aphids. So mum boiled some chillis in water and sprayed the tree with the chilli water. The bugs did not return for the 2 years my parents lived there.

Omg Freelee! I read about Australia, looks amazing but I also read about how many dangerous, deadly animals there are. U just showed a huge spider outside ur window, is that common to have a huge spider near or in ur house? Yikes!

Plants are so smart, help each other, and adapt. Try planting oregano around other plants. Bugs stay a way, as do fleas, from this plant. And, as you yourself suggested, do your own research and keep us Vlogged.

I love the idea of your lifestyle. I have been watching your videos constantly. But I have a husband and 3 kids who love meat and eggs and refuse to give them up.

A tsp of baking soda, a few drops of gentle dish soap in spray bottle filed with water will take care of any leaf munchers. Reapply after every rain.
