Metabolic Damage The Great starvation Experiment #1
video description
You know, you dont loose fat you loose muscles by starving.
Your brain takes alot of the food that is laying in your stomach, 50% to say.
When your stomach is empty the brain feeds of a little special thing that the brain keeps, kinda like a lunch box.
But when thats empty, the brain starts eating other stuff from your body, then the stomach starts making growling sounds to alarm you: Hey, no worries but your brain need more food, so hurry up a bit!
If you ignore that, the brain continues.
Then after a while the brain starts eating muscles.
You are not loosing fat, rather loosing muscles.
Then after days you might feel a bit light headed, your brain needs food.
After 1-2 weeks you die from the brain literally eating you.
So please, do not starve yourself, only bad stuff comes out of it.

This is great info! Things are starting to make SO MUCH SENSE OH MY GOSH. PLEASE go into more detail about this, I have experimented with calorie restriction for a year now and it is definitely NOT sustainable. I had no idea. It has massively effected me, focus, ability to think, depression, digestion, gas, bloating in a BIG way. It has only just dawned on me TODAY that this is what is happening. Mind blown. CARBS FOR THE WIN. But what actually led me to this was the fact that I was stuffing in TOO much on raw till 4 for 18 months and gained too much weight. Super uncomfortable and super unhappy. I shall not be making that mistake again. 2000 - 3000 calls (depending on activity) is just fine.
Thank you for spreading the high carb message Freelee! So so so important, cannot stress it enough.

Plant based diets are great, what this women does is not healthy - your body needs variety and the lifestyle she promotes is scary and will make people sick. I don't advocate calorie restricting, I am not saying everyone needs to eat meat but there are healthy ways to do things and there are ways that will destroy your body. You need fats, you need protein (whether animal or plant based, and yes you need fruits and veggies but that is not all you need. Additionally while the sugar in fruit is natural and low glycemic (because of the fiber in fruit) you still cannot eat unlimited fruit sugar is addictive and bad for you period and needs to be eaten in moderation. The only thing you should be eating in unlimited quantities is vegetables.

I'm confused: I'm doing a 1600 calorie diet with exercises to lose some extra weight & get toned and I'm seeing great results. (Some days I up it to 1900 if I really need to) These men were already lean & healthy; they didn't need to lose weight. So how does this study relate to me? As soon as I reach my desired weight I can up my calories to the amount suggested by calculating my BMI/BMR (for me that's about 2300) and making adjustments for my activity level. As for where my calories come from: a clean vegan diet of grains, proteins, fats, fruit & veg with a dose of calcium thrown in. I am a vegan following the Kayla Itsines plan. (She does an eating guide for vegans)

A few things are wrong with this, the first being this data is too old to be relevent. Counter to this, a study published last year on mice showed that cells in a starvation state extends the overall lifespan significantly. (In the study, the subjects were fed every other day rather than daily) While I don't promote any mental health related eating issues, there are different motivations for lifestyle and not all of them are aesthetic. Additionally, it's unwise to make decisions about your health without digging into the scientific data we do have first.

Better lower your daily calories, Freelee and DR are sincere but sincerely wrong. When someone say's it could take years to see results because of metabolic damage, that's when you know they are full of it. Andrew Perlot proved calories in, calories out is real. He showed it in his overfeeding video. I cut my calories a couple months ago and I finally started seeing results on this lifestyle.

Some folks from the university came to our workplace, measured us all, and told us how many calories we 'needed' each day. As an average height male, I was told 1800. Felt like I was going crazy trying to stick to that.

Ancel Keys is also known for having manipulated data to support his hypothesis. I'd be weary about reading the research of someone who has been proven to be an unethical researcher.
