Wood Stoves are amazing. like a beating heart and soul of a structure. We are blessed with the most magical and changing weather we have ever encountered and cook an amazing Indian Curry with Chapati bread using our outdoor wood fired wok stove! We also begin planting fruit trees in our orchard (Hazelnut, Almond, and Ginko Biloba Trees. Its nice to watch your story, I would have one suggestion only, If you build somethign under such big trees, the house has to be 3 times stronger then a falling tree. I would never use thin boards, I would always use selected thick pine trees to build walls and the roof structure. Its seems that the learning curve for you is going to be long becasue you have not engheritaed any wisdom from your fathers or grandfahters, you have just come from a city and started leaving in a wilderness. when I watch your films we sometimes smile when we see with mey girlfriend how many civlized toyas your are steadly bringing in. we joke that soon there will be a new yor city build in that forest. please try to keep things simply solid and robust with naturall rough look. dont use and nice timbersotre products they dont match the environment really there. all the best for you 2 and we are keeping fingers crossed for you!

I fast forward to the 45: 00 min mark just to see the fireplace. I believe you guys are the 1st ones I've ever seen where the fireplace isn't directly on thr floor (other than a van build.
I like how the fireplace is up off the ground just because it makes it easier to place wood into the fireplace than bend so much in the back to keep the fireplace going into the night.
But I also appreciate the bigger fireplaces that people use to do both heat and cook on top of. To each their own, so because back problems run in my family, I would want the fireplace that's at chest level. -

Cutting your own lumber like that the size of what you put up on the roof, it may look like you were struggling a bit to pick it up, but unless you have lifted a fresh plank like that then you would not understand how heavy it is when just cut like that! Lumber at the store has been dried and whatever treatment stuff they do so the difference is fairly large between the two. That room is so pretty! The raw wood like that is amazing!

I have a couple of serious questions. For one how did you get the financial support to start living off the grid? Like no land is free and so did you buy it or was it inherited from family or did you come into money?
And finally without income how did you survive off the grid? Thanks I would appreciate it because I'm thinking of doing it alone. Cheers.

Should-ve took a little time to give God thanks for the good food they were eating. Get rid of that smelly air polluting chainsaw and get yourself a really good bow saw or a two-man saw excuse me two person saw.

How on earth do you grow anything there. At my cabin, there-s hundreds of deer, elk, bighorn sheep, moose, turkey and about a hundred other animals coming they that eat everything in sight.

Just here to say that usually I add the sesame oil last in cooking only because it burns easily and can foul up the flavors of whatever you're cooking. My opinion though.
