Speaking of the ages of your You-tube followers--I noticed the other day that many of the comments were from women who were in their sixties and seventies. I am one of them--I am a 78 year old female who is living in the Dallas, Texas metroplex. I have watched the two of you from your beginnings. I am assuming that the reason that so many of your followers are from an older generation is because we are retired and have the time to watch the videos. Most of the working age people ( like your age) are so busy working, being at home raising children with their activities and schooling that they do not have the free time to watch. Those younger men are likely to watch you because they are fascinated by your videos and are living through you vicariously! Or they may have serious plans to do the same.

Just a bit of advice, wear safety boots or at least runners. Get rid of the shorts, your using a piece of equipment that can do a lot of damage if not respected. Keep the area your working in clean, not full of offcuts. Iam thinking Norwood sells the proper tool that makes rotating the log easier. Finally after watching dozens of video's of logs being milled, many users level the top of the log before the first cut ( usually the far end. Watch out for those toes fella. Stay safe you five.

I am a 71 yr old female, living by myself and trying to learn things that I can do to be more self-reliant. I don't see myself as being able to build some of the things you're building or milling although I do have a little bit of construction knowledge from my dad and three brothers none of which are around here anymore. I live in/at Walker Missouri in the USA, and have been watching you since you first started building the yurt. I would love to be able to build an outdoor pizza oven.

Say, I know you haven't used a saw mill much and I probably never watched any instructional Videos. ways of working your can'that is the big chunk of Log. that you have remaining after you've taken a face off of it, you can take and Flip your log. After you get one flat surface on the handleing the log piece by piece and also. There's a tool called a log hook. It gives you much greater leverage instead of trying to bull moos keep going bullmos.

It would be great to see more videos with Nicole, and also the children. I believe this would attract a wider audience such as those that are interesting in raising a young family off grid, what is is like, the advantages and disadvantages, for example. I have been watching your videos since you moved there and put up the yurt, but preferred the videos with you both in to see things from both of your perspectives.

I suggest investing in a cant hook. Having owned and operated a Woodmizer portable sawmill for over 5 years and sawing thousands of board feet of lumber, I can tell you the cant hook is a time and back saver. I would also suggest placing stickers between your sawn pieces to allow air flow. You can make them by trimming off the live edges with the mill, then use those strips as stickers.

NW Ohio 50 yr old F. Have plans to build a container house in VA,
but a head on car accident last year and numerous medical complications has delayed it. Although we plan on doing a lot of the work, my son has experience in roofing, flooring and framing, we are leaving the major stuff to the professionals. Good luck and I love your family, ideals, goals and aspirations.

Water is used on the blades of wood mills primarily to cool and lubricate the blade, making the cutting process smoother and easier. It also helps to prevent the blade from overheating, which can damage the blade or the wood being cut. Additionally, water can help to prevent resin buildup on the blade, especially when milling sap-heavy woods like pine.

Okay a major portion of your viewership are female but just a FYI, sir we are not oblivious of how a saw mill works please don’t over explain what your doing we get it. And it’s somewhat boring listening to all the details of this process. We watch to see you build the homestead not listening to the over extended explanation
