Watch Sophie Turner and Michael Fassbender Battle in Dark Phoenix Anatomy of a Scene

How destructive can an action scene be between two people who dont even touch each other during battle? If one of them has magnetic powers and the other telekinetic ones, you might want to duck. This scene pits Magneto (Michael Fassbender) against Phoenix (Sophie Turner) in a sequence where a war of wills lead to pyrotechnics, errant helicopter blades and a superhero who takes a ride not on, but through, a few bicycles. In his narration, the writer and director Simon Kinberg discusses how he sought to create a set piece different from the kinds usually found in X-Men movies, while using real helicopters in the process. i thought this scene was really boring for an action sequence with powers. It just felt so mechanical and non-extraordinary. The mass area of effect special effects of earlier x-men films was so much more entertaining to watch. This tug-of-war is not what I came to see when sitting down for a superhero movie. :/ waiting for a cinemasins vid

You know, you're all spending time and effort discussing this film as if it were the Russian film version of War and Peace. it's just a comic book entertainment film which goes Pow andShazam and that's all. Don't try to make it into what it isn't and can never be.

Marvel must have rushed this movie. That Avengers Endgame movie must have been their primary focus or something. I could have watched this film on TBS with commercials. I'm curious though. Who's stronger, Jean Grey or Captain Marvel?

This was probably the worst X-men movie ever, and this is some who loves the new remakes. Despite everyone thinking they're awful. It felt so rushed and like everyone was done with this franchise, and it showed.

So helicopters are mostly made of aluminum and magnesium. Not steel or iron, his powers cant move them around. his powers only work on ferrous metals. No good on aluminum, magnesium, nickel, brass, lead

magnetic powers! eyeroll
this is the crap that gets written when the writers and directors have no clue about the history of beloved legendary characters and villains in marvel lore. ffs

I am a white supremacist and a KKK member. I love the NY Times, it is what radicalized me so thanks NY Times for making me see black people and gays for what they really are.

This is the funniest scene in the entire movie. I burst out laughing when I saw Michael Fassbender making that face. Best theater experience I've ever had in years.

This was a great movie! I want to watch it again. I can't believe the critics have been saying negative things about it. This movie was better than Avengers Endgame.

Why, pray tell, did Jean take down the helicopters? If she destroyed them, she would be stuck with the soldiers. It makes no sense. This movie makes zero sense.
